Marco Mei, the seasoned Italian DJ and producer behind Bicycle Corporation, has revealed the tracklist for his latest radio broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia. As a central hub for electronic and urban music across Asia and beyond, Scientific Sound Asia remains a vital force in connecting global audiences to cutting-edge underground sounds.
With a career spanning over 30 years, Marco has carved out a reputation for his eclectic, rhythmically rich DJ sets. Famed for his ability to weave Afro-inspired grooves into contemporary electronic formats, he has become a globally respected figure, known for consistently delivering captivating and high-energy performances. His deep-rooted knowledge of the scene and instinctive feel for the dancefloor have earned him wide recognition.
Marco’s journey into music began in the early '90s amid the bustling record shops and vibrant underground clubs of Turin, Italy. His passion for genres like House, Techno, and Afro-infused rhythms led to his involvement with the Urban People collective, an influential group that helped shape Italy’s electronic scene through landmark events and club nights.
His growing presence on the scene led to a prestigious residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, where his profile expanded internationally. From there, Marco has gone on to play at celebrated venues across the globe, including Woo Bar in Bali, The Mansion in Shanghai, Fuse in Brussels, and The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City, each set further cementing his standing as a dynamic and versatile performer.
Marco’s contribution to electronic music extends beyond the DJ booth. In 2009, he joined forces with fellow Italian producer Stefano Ugliano (also known as 6884) to form Bicycle Corporation. The duo has since released over 50 tracks and remixes, spanning House, Techno, French House, Deep House, and Tech House, with appearances on respected imprints such as Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, GrooveTraxx, Suka, and Revox.
After relocating to Taipei in 2010, Marco became a cornerstone of the region’s nightlife, helping to shape the local electronic music scene while continuing to build his following throughout Asia. His regular performances across the continent have showcased his flair for blending cultures and styles, earning him a reputation for innovation and inclusivity.
In addition to his club sets, Marco curates a long-standing radio show with Scientific Sound Asia. Each episode reflects his musical depth and taste, offering listeners a seamless mix of genre-spanning selections. These broadcasts capture the same energy and finesse that define his live performances.
With performances spanning Europe, Asia, and Africa, Marco Mei remains a global ambassador for electronic music. Through his studio work with Bicycle Corporation, his high-impact DJ appearances, and his expertly curated radio shows, he continues to shape and inspire the modern dance music landscape.
DJ Marco Mei's Episode 17 kicks off with Alan Dixon, mOat and Tom Diesel’s “The Underground”, laying down percussive Afro House energy from the outset. Audiojack’s “Wannabe” and ATFC’s soulful “Bad Habit” remix follow, giving way to Chloé Caillet & Luke Alessi’s “The One” featuring Jocelyn Brown, a vocal House highlight. Claus Casper’s “Shades & 808s” (Johannes Albert Metro Mix) and Four Below Zero’s bootlegged Disco gem “My Baby’s Got E.S.P.” round out a groove-heavy intro.
Joey Negro’s “Make A Move On Me” and Johan S’s “Rollin’” keep the rhythm strong, with Kristin Velvet and Klatsch both providing high-energy House selections. Johannes Albert returns with Biesmans on “Get My Gee”, delivering Indie Dance flair before K’ Alexi Shelby’s “Flame” (Laurent Garnier Edit) brings in deep House history. Meanwhile, “Texture” by Hit The Ground and Afro House tune “Stay” by Aden Lou add contrast before &ME and Black Coffee meet Kings Of Tomorrow on “The Rapture Pt III Finally”, blending Melodic House & Techno powerfully.
Barry Can’t Swim brings a fresh pulse with “Kimbara”, followed by Clepto-Maniacs’ classic “Let’s Get Down” and Flashmob’s driving “My Way”. Franky Rizardo appears twice, first with “Need Someone” and again remixing KNMSK’s “Cesara Lina”, blending Afro and House sensibilities. “Wait A Minute” by Joyfull Family adds Minimal/Tech House edge, and Las Americas’ “Do It” (St David Big Tool Mix) rides a stomping House groove.
As the show winds down, Lewis Taylor’s “Serenity” injects a UK Garage / Bassline twist, while Melle Brown’s “Spirit” deepens the vibe with smooth Deep House. Monty Luke asserts authority on “The Takeover”, and Defected mainstays Nic Fanciulli & Marc E. Bassy bring warmth with “Hold On”. The final cut, “Open Up Your Eyes” (Sgt Slick ReCut) by Johnick, wraps the session with nostalgic House perfection, nodding to the golden era of club music.
Be sure to catch Marco Mei's live performance on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, from 6 to 8 PM Indochina Time (ICT). If you're unable to listen to it live, a replay will be available on Wednesday from 6 to 8 AM ICT, offering you another opportunity to experience this expertly crafted mix.
