DJ Joshua announces his track list for Velvety Elements 293.

Scientific Sound Asia presents a new edition of Velvety Elements, hosted by Portuguese DJ and producer Joshua. Remaining aligned with the station’s mission of connecting underground artists across Asia and beyond, the series continues to showcase house music rooted in soul, groove and emotional expression.

Based in Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been deeply involved in electronic music since the 1990s. His extensive archive of vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital releases reflects decades of dedication to underground culture. While his musical journey has touched on techno, drum and bass and chillout, house music has always remained central to his artistic identity.

During quieter periods for Portugal’s underground movement, Joshua played an active role in sustaining the scene by organising events and encouraging collaboration between DJs and producers. After taking time away to focus on family life, he returned with renewed direction, launching Floating Beats, recognised for its melodic and forward-leaning approach, followed by Velvety Elements, a project devoted to deeper, warmer and more soulful expressions of house.

Working across several aliases including K Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand and Joshua Onairam, he continues to explore different creative paths. Each name represents a distinct facet of his sound, ranging from stripped-back rhythmic focus to emotionally driven melodic writing. In 2024, he founded JFLM Recordings, a label designed to release his own work while supporting underground artists who value authenticity, musical depth and strong identity.

Joshua’s recent output reflects a period of clear artistic momentum. As Joshua Marian, his 2024 Nobody Waiting For Me EP on Back to the Beat delivered the organ-led title track alongside the nostalgic tones of I Love You, both grounded in classic house tradition. Releases such as Just Love and Chance With Soul expanded on this foundation, balancing groove with emotional detail. His 2025 K Joshua single Light of Faith introduced a more introspective direction, built around deep house rhythms and melodic phrasing that emphasise reflection while maintaining forward movement.

Through Velvety Elements, Joshua continues to refine and communicate the core of his musical vision. Each episode weaves rhythm, harmony and emotion into a warm, flowing experience that honours the enduring soul of house music.

The mix opens gently with Disappear setting a reflective deep house tone, followed by the laid-back warmth of Can't Stop. Critical Feelings and Rouffff continue the early flow, leaning into smooth rhythms and restrained melodies that define the opening stretch.

As the set progresses, When Vibe Comes In and Deep In This bring a stronger sense of groove, balancing soulful house elements with deeper club foundations. After the Party keeps the energy steady, maintaining a timeless house feel without rushing the pace.

Midway through, Heaven On Earth adds dub-leaning depth, while UAUA introduces a sharper edge with tech house influence. Keep Movin' brings things back toward classic house territory, driven by rolling bass and understated percussion.

The closing section stays hypnotic and stripped back. Stuck In The Wash shifts into minimal textures before Joes Groove rounds off the episode with a warm, groove-led house finish, completing a cohesive and fluid deep house journey from start to end.
