DJ Joshua announces his track list for Velvety Elements 282.

Scientific Sound Asia presents the newest edition of Velvety Elements, hosted by Portuguese DJ and producer Joshua. As part of the station’s mission to connect underground artists across Asia and beyond, the series shines a spotlight on house music in its most soulful, groove-driven forms.

Based in Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been active in electronic music since the 1990s. His extensive archive of vinyl, cassettes, CDs, and digital releases reflects decades of dedication to sound and to preserving underground culture. While his career has moved through techno, drum and bass, and chillout, house has always been central to his creative vision.

During quieter years for Portugal’s underground movement, Joshua organised grassroots events and fostered collaboration across the scene. After stepping back to focus on family, he returned with renewed energy, launching Floating Beats, recognised for its melodic and immersive selections, and later Velvety Elements, which highlights deeper, soulful strands of house.

Producing under aliases including K-Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand, and Joshua Onairam, he explores everything from percussive minimal grooves to melodic, emotive house. In 2024, he founded JFLM Recordings, a label created to showcase his own productions alongside innovative new voices, with a focus on deep and emotionally resonant sounds.

Recent highlights of his house output include the Nobody Waiting For Me EP as Joshua Marian on Back to the Beat in late 2024, pairing the organ-driven title track with the nostalgic cut I Love You. Other standouts, such as Just Love and Chance With Soul, further show his ability to craft soulful, uplifting house moments that resonate on the floor and beyond.

Through Velvety Elements, Joshua continues to shape his unique approach while reaching a worldwide audience. Each episode offers a blend of depth, groove, and warmth, giving listeners an authentic connection to house music week after week.

Episode 282 of Velvety Elements begins with Delano Smith’s Safe Place and Tuccillo’s New World, setting a strong house foundation. Sascha Dive’s Bounce To That injects a dose of tech house, pushing the energy forward before Alton Miller and Danny Howells team up with deep house staples Feels So Good and Introspection, establishing warmth and depth.

The set takes a playful turn with DJ Sneak’s The Test Of Time, adding jackin house flavour with funk-driven rhythm. D’Julz returns the mix to a house framework with Out Of Place Artefact, while DP-6 and Franck Roger with Jovonn’s Remember (Simon Shaw Remix) explore deeper tones, anchoring the midsection with hypnotic grooves.

As the mix unfolds, Fragoso’s Clear Vision and Julius Strieder’s Sonor carry house forward with steady momentum and lush textures. Each track reflects Joshua’s ability to move seamlessly between styles, blending classic touches with modern house sound design.

The episode closes on Vincent Caira’s The Choice, a house cut that rounds off the journey with elegance and groove. With its mix of house, deep house, jackin house, and tech house, this session highlights the versatility of DJ Joshua’s selections while capturing the essence of the deep house and house music culture.
