Scientific Sound Asia has released the latest playlist for a new edition of Velvety Elements, the ongoing radio series curated by Portuguese DJ and producer Joshua. As a leading electronic music platform, event organiser, and DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia remains committed to nurturing underground music across Asia and internationally.

Based in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been immersed in electronic music since the 1990s. His vast and varied music library, spanning vinyl, cassette, CD, and digital formats, reflects a lifelong dedication to sound and its evolving forms. While his experience includes Techno, Drum and Bass, and Chillout, House music has always been central to his creative output.

During a period when Portugal’s underground scene faced social and structural challenges, Joshua played a vital role in keeping the culture alive. Through event organisation, creative collaborations, and grassroots initiatives, he helped establish a foundation for House and Techno that would endure into the next generation.

Following a hiatus to focus on family life, Joshua returned to broadcasting with renewed energy. He launched Floating Beats, a show dedicated to deep and melodic selections, and later Velvety Elements, which highlights the more refined, groove-oriented side of House.

Under his various aliases (K-Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand, and Joshua Onairam), he explores different aspects of the genre, from soulful rhythms to minimal textures. In early 2024, he founded JFLM Recordings, a label created to showcase his productions and those of like-minded artists. This further reflects his commitment to delivering high-quality, emotionally rich House music.

Velvety Elements 269 opens with Mr. Mala, Theo Poles & Hopeingod’s Don’t Keep Me Wait (Soft Mix), establishing a smooth, soulful tone with Deep House textures. Aukin's House Movement and Franck Roger’s Radik’Hall continue the groove, blending crisp percussion with warm synths and fluid basslines.

Midway through, classic House aesthetics emerge via Craze Bass Dub by Masters At Work and DIB’s Minirelax001.2. Gunnter’s Get Closer maintains the lush Deep House momentum before DJ Sneak injects signature raw energy on You’re Mine, a standout track recalling his golden-era influence.

As the set progresses, DJ Honesty’s Smith and Fond of Rules’ Serein introduce a minimal, hypnotic flavour. The set takes a rhythmic turn with HMSA’s Chaos in the City, injecting Jackin House swagger, followed by the disco-funk elegance of Disco Visions by Manuel Kane, reimagined by Hotmood.

Velvety Elements 269 balances classic house charm with underground freshness. DJ Joshua’s track selection offers a cohesive and spirited mix, weaving soulful grooves, funk-laced edits, and deep rhythm layers that reflect his signature style.

Remember to tune in to his live radio show on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, between 6 and 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you miss the live broadcast, you can catch the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
