DJ Joshua announces his tracklist for Velvety Elements 266.

Scientific Sound Asia has released the latest playlist for the newest episode of DJ Joshua’s acclaimed radio series, Velvety Elements. As a respected radio station, event organiser, and DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia continues to play a central role in shaping the electronic music scene across the region.

Based in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has dedicated decades to electronic music. His vast archive, spanning digital formats, vinyl, CDs, and cassettes, reflects a deep-rooted passion for sound. While his musical background includes Techno, Drum and Bass, and Chillout, House music has always remained at the core of his creative output.

During the 1990s, when Portugal’s underground scene faced cultural and logistical obstacles, Joshua remained a committed advocate. He helped build the local movement by organising events, supporting fellow artists, and finding innovative ways to share music. His efforts helped lay the groundwork for a community grounded in House and Techno, a legacy that continues to influence the scene today.

After stepping back from live performances to focus on family life, Joshua returned with renewed focus. He launched Floating Beats, a radio series dedicated to deep and melodic electronic music. This comeback also gave rise to Velvety Elements, which dives into the smoother, groove-oriented side of House.

Recording under various aliases, K-Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand, and Joshua Onairam, he explores a broad range of House sub-genres, each reflecting a distinct artistic voice. In January 2024, he founded JFLM Recordings, a label that supports his own work and that of like-minded producers, further advancing his exploration of refined, soulful House music.

Velvety Elements 266 opens with DJ Sneak’s “Pass It Around”, setting a classic House tone with shuffling percussion and infectious swing. Black Eyes follows with “Master of Hydro”, continuing the groove-led momentum. Anton Kubikov’s “3 Magic Words” then introduces a more spacious Deep House atmosphere, gliding gently through warm pads and subtle melodies.

DJ Pipe’s “Deeper Strains” returns to grounded House textures, followed by Johannes Albert’s aptly titled “Maintain The Vibe”, which keeps the energy steady and rich. Odee X’s “Culture (Dub)” adds a more stripped-down House aesthetic before Opcode Vision’s “S900” smoothly re-centres the set with Deep House elegance.

The mood deepens with Damian Rausch’s “About Love” and his imprint Joshua Marian’s “Just Love”, two tracks that bring melodic warmth and introspection. Don Swing’s “Living House Music” stays true to its title, delivering soulful depth and groove. As the session wraps, Faber Italy’s “Intruder” and Intr0beatz’s “Get Down” bring the mix full circle with upbeat yet refined House selections.
