DJ Joshua announces his tracklist for Velvety Elements 263.

Scientific Sound Asia has recently released the latest playlist for DJ Joshua’s radio show, Velvety Elements, Episode 263. As a leading figure in Asia’s electronic music scene, Scientific Sound Asia continues to support and promote the region’s vibrant scene through its work as a radio station, event promoter, and DJ agency.

Hailing from Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has built a respected career rooted in dedication, versatility, and a deep appreciation for electronic music. With an expansive archive of digital files, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes, his collection reflects a lifelong commitment to sound exploration and musical diversity.

While Joshua has earned recognition across multiple genres, ranging from Techno and Drum and Bass to Chillout, it is House music that has remained the foundation of his creative identity. During the 1990s, when Portugal’s rave scene faced significant challenges, Joshua continued to champion underground electronic music by developing new methods of sharing and performing his work.

Collaborating with fellow artists and organising events in clubs and bars, he helped foster strong local communities of House and Techno enthusiasts. Following a period away from live performance to focus on family life, Joshua’s passion was reignited as his daughter grew older.

This revival led to the creation of Floating Beats, a radio show dedicated to exploring the deeper, melodic, and more progressive corners of electronic music. Inspired by his enduring love of House, he launched a second programme, Velvety Elements, which allows him to explore the more elegant and subtle aspects of the genre.

The show is known for its deep, soulful, and emotionally resonant tracks, blending smooth grooves with intricate musical layering. Each episode offers an immersive listening experience that highlights Joshua’s refined sensibilities as a selector and his ability to harmonise complex melodies with warmth and sophistication.

Through the adoption of multiple aliases, including K-Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand, and Joshua Onairam, he continues to explore a range of styles within House music, each identity offering a unique sonic perspective.

In January 2024, he launched JFLM Recordings, a label dedicated to showcasing his productions and providing a platform for his evolving artistic vision. Velvety Elements marks a new chapter in DJ Joshua’s ongoing musical journey, guiding listeners through the most refined, emotive, and enchanting dimensions of House music across its many sub-genres.

DJ Joshua opens Velvety Elements 263 with the smooth grooves of C-Rock & Patrick Testor’s “Enjoy The Music”, immediately setting a deep and soulful tone. The momentum continues with Ilves & Migova’s “Masquerade” (Ahmet Sisman Remix) and Kameleon’s “Dark Passenger,” delivering a hypnotic blend of deep house layers.

Tech house flavours begin to surface as German Brigante’s “Crako” and Leix & Hitch’s “Hynkel” add more bounce and energy to the mix. A nod to progressive sounds comes through with When Is Dark’s “The Love You Need” (Gotheck DC Remix), diversifying the rhythm palette.

Joshua balances the mood with classic house cuts like Fauvrelle’s “Marvelous” and Tom Flynn’s “Under My Control,” providing warmth and floor-driven focus. The set’s standout remix by Yousef on Land Shark’s “Tie Me Up” injects a bold rework full of tension and release.

The mix closes with Gorge’s “Disco Rebeat” and Tripmastaz’s “Lite” (Ray Okpara Remix), creating a deep and rolling finale. A timeless flashback from 2013, Velvety Elements 263 showcases Joshua’s finely tuned ear for grooves that still resonate today.
