DJ Joshua returns with episode 745 of Floating Beats on Scientific Sound Asia. The platform operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, while also publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
Born in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has remained deeply involved in electronic music culture since the mid-1990s. His long-standing connection to vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats reflects decades of dedication to underground music and DJ culture, helping shape an approach that balances experience, technical knowledge and ongoing musical exploration.
Over the years, his journey has taken in house, techno, drum and bass and chillout. Even during quieter periods for Portugal's underground scene, he remained active through event organisation and support for local electronic music communities, maintaining close ties to the culture that first inspired his involvement in music.
After stepping away from DJing to focus on family life, Joshua returned with renewed purpose through Floating Beats. The show quickly developed into a recognised platform for deeper and more progressive electronic music, allowing him to refine a style built around atmosphere, storytelling and carefully controlled progression.
Alongside his radio work, Joshua continues to produce under several aliases, including K Joshua, Joshua Fernand, Joshua Marian and Joshua Onairam. Each project explores a different aspect of his musical identity, ranging from Deep House and Melodic House & Techno to hypnotic techno and more experimental electronic compositions.
Recent releases under the Joshua Fernand alias continue to showcase his focus on modern techno. Tracks such as Blue River on MixCult Digital and Breaking Rocks and Tearing Metal on JFLM Recordings deliver driving rhythms, rolling percussion and peak-time energy. Meanwhile, Closed Door and Open Door on Radickal Records explore a deeper hypnotic direction through subtle tension, repetition and immersive atmosphere.
His production output also highlights a more melodic side. Killer's Plan on Rice Bowl Recordings combines carefully layered melodies with restrained Melodic House & Techno influences, demonstrating his ability to move between powerful club-oriented material and more reflective electronic music while maintaining a consistent artistic identity.
Beyond Joshua Fernand, his recent work as Joshua Marian has strengthened his presence within the Deep House scene. Releases including Just Love, Express Your Voice, Ring For More, Go Slow and I'm Not A New Kid have appeared on labels such as Yesenia, Jazz In Da House, Agua Salada Records and Wanda, showcasing a groove-led sound built around warm melodies, soulful textures and understated rhythmic flow.
His K Joshua project continues exploring darker and more experimental territory. Releases such as Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid and Slow Laziness on Ghetto Rhythms Records move through Raw / Deep / Hypnotic Techno, Dub Techno, Minimal / Deep Tech and Ambient influences, reflecting the broader scope of his studio output.
In 2024, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings as an independent platform for his own productions and collaborative projects. The label continues to develop as an outlet dedicated to underground electronic music, creative freedom and long-term artistic growth.
Floating Beats 745 is a pure exploration of Raw, Deep and Hypnotic Techno from beginning to end. Feral's Unplace opens the journey with stripped-back rhythms and atmospheric tension before Ness delivers the rolling groove of Iridium. XZXZX111's Caida Libre and Alinep's Petmalu continue the hypnotic flow, building a deep warehouse atmosphere through subtle sound design and relentless percussion.
Carara's Endless and A.Paul's Chronostasis deepen the intensity with powerful low-end pressure and driving rhythmic structures. Hollen's Monolith follows with a darker edge before Benjamin Mull and The Advent's Source 004 in the Cari Lekebusch remix introduces a classic techno approach rooted in groove and movement rather than overt melody.
The central section remains firmly focused on hypnotic functionality through DJ Dextro's Liberdade and Luca Accardi's Duna. Both tracks maintain a strong forward momentum while preserving the deep atmospheric character that defines the episode. A Thousand Details contributes Reformulation, adding another layer of industrial texture and rhythmic complexity.
The closing stretch pushes deeper into warehouse territory through Sciahri's Offset and Oculus' The Divine. These productions combine hypnotic repetition with evolving textures, creating a powerful late-night atmosphere. Drop-E and RNGD conclude the episode with La Furia Del Viento in the Bartig Move remix, ending the session with driving energy and a final statement of Raw, Deep and Hypnotic Techno.
Throughout the radio programme, DJ Joshua focuses entirely on the deeper side of contemporary Techno, showcasing artists whose productions prioritise groove, atmosphere and hypnotic progression. Floating Beats 745 remains uncompromising from start to finish, delivering a cohesive underground journey for listeners seeking authentic warehouse-driven sounds.
