Floating Beats returns with episode 732, presented by DJ Joshua. Broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, the series continues to support underground electronic music, DJ culture and live events across Asia, connecting globally influenced sounds with an international audience through carefully curated programming.

Born in Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been immersed in electronic music culture since the mid-1990s. His long-standing connection with vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats reflects decades of dedication to underground sound and club culture. From early crate digging to long hours behind the decks, his musical outlook has always been guided by curiosity, depth and a wide appreciation of electronic music.

Throughout his career, he has explored House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, remaining active even during quieter periods for Portugal’s rave movement. Working at the grassroots level alongside fellow DJs and producers, he helped keep the underground scene moving forward and maintained creative momentum when wider exposure was limited.

After stepping away from music for a period to focus on family life, Joshua returned with renewed direction through Floating Beats, a radio and podcast series that quickly re-established his international presence. Over time, the show has grown into a respected platform for deeper, progressive and hypnotic electronic sounds, reflecting his continued development as a selector while building a loyal global listenership.

His studio work now spans several aliases, each representing a different creative angle. As K Joshua, the Hopeful Mind EP explored emotive Deep House. Under the Joshua Fernand name, the Logic Move EP moved into raw and hypnotic Techno territory. The Joshua Marian project delivered groove-led soulful House with Chance With Soul, while Joshua Onairam focuses on cinematic and melodic expression, heard in releases such as Melodic Doubts.

Recent work continues this evolution. The 2025 Joshua Onairam release Shiny Night combines progressive structure with emotional atmosphere, showing a clearer focus on narrative flow and melodic detail while maintaining the depth associated with his earlier Deep House and Techno productions.

In 2024, Joshua founded JFLM Recordings, a label created to release his own music while also supporting underground artists who share a commitment to authenticity and musical depth. Together, Floating Beats and JFLM Recordings reflect a long-term dedication to meaningful electronic music, with each episode continuing a carefully developed journey rooted firmly in underground culture.

Floating Beats 732 opens with a deep and hypnotic tone as Special Vision introduces dub-tinged textures before Similar Opening and Step Up reinforce the Raw and Hypnotic Techno direction. The early section stays restrained and focused, building atmosphere through subtle movement rather than immediate intensity.

Energy rises with Dontenmoyou in the Koichi Sugimoto remix, bringing a Peak Time drive before Vince Watson’s Eccentricity returns to a deeper groove. The shift into Progressive House with Flow broadens the palette, adding melodic structure while keeping the underground feel intact.

The middle section explores more minimal and groove-led territory. 2AM brings a stripped-down Deep Tech rhythm, while Funk D’Void’s remix of Horizon moves into Tech House with a rolling, late-night feel. Filaments continues the Progressive House thread, maintaining forward motion without breaking the hypnotic flow.

The final stretch returns firmly to Techno. Gaining Ground adds classic Detroit influence before Drill closes the set with Raw and driving pressure. Episode 732 stays consistent from start to finish, balancing hypnotic techno depth with progressive structure and understated club energy.

Catch his live radio show on Monday, March 2nd, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). Missed it? No problem, tune in to the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
