DJ Joshua publishes his track list for Floating Beats 709.

The latest edition of Floating Beats, episode 709, is presented by Portuguese DJ and producer Joshua. Scientific Sound Asia, a leading hub for underground electronic music, DJ culture, and live events across Asia, continues to highlight forward-thinking artists from around the world.

Originally from Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been immersed in electronic music since the mid-1990s. His extensive archive of vinyl, cassettes, CDs, and digital media reflects a lifelong devotion to sound and an enduring commitment to underground culture.

Throughout his career, he has explored a wide spectrum of genres, from house and techno to drum and bass and chillout. Even as Portugal’s rave movement slowed in the late 1990s, Joshua remained active, organising grassroots events and collaborating with fellow DJs and producers to sustain the spirit of the underground.

After a break to focus on family, he returned with renewed energy and launched Floating Beats, a podcast and radio show that signalled his re-entry into DJing and broadcasting. Since then, it has become a respected platform for immersive, melodic electronic music with a loyal international audience.

In recent years, Joshua has expanded into music production, releasing tracks under several aliases, K-Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand, and Joshua Onairam, each representing a different facet of his creativity. Under K-Joshua, the Hopeful Mind EP (2024) showcased deep, atmospheric music, while Joshua Fernand’s Logic Move EP brought a rawer techno edge.

As Joshua Marian, Chance With Soul (2025) highlighted his house-driven grooves, and Joshua Onairam has explored more experimental, melodic strains with works such as Melodic Doubts.

Furthering this vision, 2024 saw the launch of JFLM Recordings, a label dedicated to showcasing his own productions alongside innovative new voices in underground music.

Together with Floating Beats, the label has strengthened Joshua’s role in pushing underground music forward, offering depth, diversity, and creativity to audiences worldwide. His Floating Beats radio show has been at the forefront of showcasing Techno and other sub genres into the Asian scene.

The journey begins with Aaltinbas’ Saisei, an entrancing cut of raw, deep, and hypnotic techno. Satoshi Tomiie & Tuccillo bring subtle groove with Delta Dub 3, introducing minimal deep tech elements before Greg Gow’s Final Frontier pushes the momentum back into hypnotic techno territory. Nick Muir, John Digweed & Captain Mustache’s Bleu Cobalt (Alican Remix) shifts the tone with melodic techno layers, balanced by Man Power’s Inner Space, a deep house track that softens the edge with warmth.

Energy builds as Tal Fussman’s Eyes and Donk & Tim Roes’ Unbothered deliver peak-time driving techno intensity. Between them, D. Diggler’s Denise Echo offers a deep, minimal touch, keeping the set’s flow varied yet cohesive. Matthias Tanzmann & Black Circle’s Procession then adds a tech house groove, expanding the palette with crisp percussion and dancefloor-friendly rhythms.

DJ Bone’s The Hypnotist pays homage to Detroit techno, combining futuristic sound design with raw dancefloor force. Format’s The Session Continues circles back to hypnotic techno, locking into a deep and immersive groove. Fitzherbert’s Short Trip To Space and Southsoniks’ More Chords & More Life then close the episode with house selections that balance warmth and rhythm, rounding out the set with a satisfying contrast.

Floating Beats 709 captures DJ Joshua’s ability to weave hypnotic techno with house, deep house, minimal deep tech, tech house, and melodic techno, while paying respect to Detroit’s roots. It’s a showcase of both intensity and atmosphere, perfect for fans of underground electronic music.
