Scientific Sound Asia has announced the latest playlist for DJ Joshua’s radio show, Floating Beats 692. As a radio station, DJ agency, and promoter, Scientific Sound Asia plays a crucial role in nurturing and advancing the electronic music community both regionally and internationally.

DJ Joshua, based in Évora, Portugal, has been a significant figure in the electronic music scene since the mid-1990s. His extensive personal collection of digital files, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes reflects his profound and lasting passion for the genre.

Throughout his career, he has ventured into a variety of styles, including Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. Despite the decline of the rave scene in Portugal during the 1990s, Joshua remained steadfast in his commitment to his craft.

He pioneered innovative methods of production and distribution and collaborated with fellow artists to organise events in clubs and bars, transforming these venues into pivotal spaces for electronic music culture. Following the birth of his child, Joshua took a hiatus from live performances and radio to prioritise family life.

As his daughter grew older, his enthusiasm for music was rekindled, leading to the launch of the Floating Beats podcast and radio show, which marked his return to the scene with renewed determination. In 2023, Joshua further immersed himself in music production, adopting various aliases to explore different creative avenues.

Under the names K-Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand, and Joshua Onairam, he has released a diverse array of tracks, each showcasing its own unique style and influence. In January 2024, he established JFLM Recordings to support his growing output and provide a platform for his extensive musical expressions. Through this label, Joshua continues actively engaging with the global electronic music community, delivering a body of work that highlights his versatility and dedication to the art form.

DJ Joshua's Floating Beats 692 embarks on a journey through the depths of raw, deep and hypnotic techno. The set opens with Sr2's "Cognitive Dissonance," setting a contemplative tone. Bastian Balders' "The Unknown" follows, offering a sci-fi-infused techno experience from his 'Split 2.0' release. Klint's "Doggo," part of 'The K9 Doggo' EP, introduces raw energy to the mix.

Benjamin Mull's "Sonkad," from his 'Keyknas' EP, brings a nostalgic yet authentic techno vibe. Fractious' "Mesmerize" delivers high-energy rhythms, complemented by Michael Ferrell's "Field Patterns," adding depth to the set. Cari Lekebusch's "Whack A Mole," from 'Childs Play,' revisits the foundational sounds of techno.

OFF/GRID's "Constant Expression," part of the 'Circular Motions' EP, channels dubby, chord-driven techno. Kr!z's "Chrome Dust" offers an irresistible groove, making it an instant ear-catcher. Toni Alvarez's "Land Of Nowhere," from the 'Groove System' EP, adds a driving force to the mix.

Damian Vargas' "Universo Holografico" introduces a cosmic dimension, leading into The Advent's classic "Standers," a staple in techno history. The set concludes with Colomboi's "2484," delivering a peak-time techno experience.
