Blaze DJ has unveiled the playlist for Ministry of Breaks episode 34, broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia. The station continues to operate as a leading electronic music platform, DJ agency and promoter connecting underground sounds across Asia and internationally.

Hailing from Walthamstow in London’s East End, Blaze DJ is a British DJ and producer whose roots are deeply embedded in underground music culture. His connection to DJing began early and has been shaped by decades of hands-on experience, curiosity and dedication to sound system craft.

Often referencing the idea of the “10,000 hours rule,” Blaze DJ considers that milestone merely the beginning. Years of constant practice have given him an instinctive understanding of turntables, musical flow and dancefloor dynamics. Growing up in a household surrounded by music, his earliest influences came from a wide spectrum, including jazz, funk, disco, new romantics and 80s synth-pop.

A defining moment arrived in 1987 with the discovery of House Sounds of Chicago Volume 1. From that point, music became central to his life rather than a casual interest. By the age of 15, he was already DJing publicly, first at a local pub in Edmonton before securing residencies in Birmingham and Faliraki, regularly playing to large crowds and refining his technical approach.

As a true product of the Acid House generation, Blaze DJ witnessed the UK electronic music scene evolve from its formative years into a global movement. Despite more than three decades behind the decks, his enthusiasm remains unchanged, echoing the energy of early 1990s underground parties.

Musically, Blaze DJ draws from a wide range of influences, blending classic house foundations with breaks, acid touches and techno elements. This combination has become a defining characteristic of his sound, rooted in groove while remaining adaptable and forward-facing.

Beyond DJing, Blaze DJ played a significant role in the industry through work in DJ retail, helping pioneer the integration of DJ and production equipment under one roof in the UK. He later shifted focus toward audio-visual design and sound system consultancy, contributing to club installations worldwide.

After stepping away from DJing for over a decade, Blaze DJ returned with renewed focus and momentum. He now holds monthly radio slots with Ibiza Club News, Underground Kollektiv and Scientific Sound Asia, re-establishing his presence within the global breaks community.

Affiliated with Industrial Force and Zeta Records, and armed with an extensive breaks and breakbeat catalogue, Blaze DJ continues to build on his legacy. The Ministry of Breaks brand has grown steadily, gaining recognition in London for its fusion of breaks, bass and underground energy.

Alongside the radio show, Blaze DJ has relaunched both his personal YouTube channel and the Ministry of Breaks channel, expanding the project’s reach. He is also actively involved in organising Breaks n Bass events, further strengthening the brand’s connection to the London underground and beyond.

The opening section establishes a groove-led foundation, moving smoothly between funk-driven breaks and bass-heavy rhythms. Early selections lean into soulful and melodic elements, blending vocal-led cuts with rolling breakbeat structures that set an inviting yet energetic tone without rushing the pace.

As the mix progresses, the focus shifts toward deeper nuskool and UK bass territory. Tracks with thicker low-end pressure and sharper percussion introduce a more club-focused intensity, balancing polished modern production with nods to classic rave energy and warehouse-ready grooves.

Midway through the session, Blaze DJ weaves in oldskool influences and garage-inflected rhythms. Familiar vocal hooks, shuffled beats and rave motifs surface, adding warmth and nostalgia while maintaining forward momentum. This section highlights the connection between early breakbeat culture and its contemporary evolution.

The closing stretch tightens the energy with tougher breaks and bass-driven selections before easing back into a controlled finish. Rather than ending abruptly, the mix resolves with a confident blend of modern underground sounds and classic breakbeat attitude, reinforcing Ministry of Breaks as a platform for both heritage and progression.
