Blaze DJ has announced the lineup for Ministry of Breaks episode 42, airing on Scientific Sound Asia. The electronic music radio station, event organiser and DJ agency is connecting underground artists with a global audience across Asia and beyond.
Originally from Walthamstow in London’s East End, Blaze DJ is a British DJ and producer whose career has remained firmly rooted in underground music culture and the craft of DJing. His relationship with electronic music has been shaped by long-term immersion rather than trends, with decades spent developing a practical, dancefloor-focused approach.
Often referenced through the idea of the so-called ten-thousand-hour rule, Blaze DJ views technical mastery not as a destination but as a foundation. Years of focused practice have resulted in an instinctive understanding of turntables, music selection and crowd response. Raised in a musically diverse household, his early influences ranged from jazz, funk and disco to new romantic and 1980s synth-pop.
A defining moment came in 1987 when he encountered House Sounds of Chicago Volume 1. What began as curiosity quickly evolved into a lifelong commitment to club culture, shaping both his creative direction and professional path. By the age of fifteen, Blaze DJ was already performing publicly, building momentum through early gigs in Edmonton before securing regular bookings in Birmingham and Faliraki, where he played to large audiences.
As part of the Acid House generation, Blaze DJ witnessed the evolution of UK electronic music from its formative years through multiple shifts in sound and culture. His musical identity reflects that history, blending classic house foundations with breaks, acid textures and techno elements, assembled with a clear focus on functionality and flow.
Beyond the DJ booth, Blaze DJ has played an active role within the wider industry. His experience in DJ retail and early integration of DJ and production equipment in shared spaces contributed to changes in how electronic music communities interacted with technology. In the mid-2000s, his focus shifted toward audio and visual consultancy, working on sound system optimisation for clubs internationally before stepping away from DJing for an extended period.
Following a fifteen-year break, Blaze DJ returned with renewed clarity and commitment. Over recent years, he has steadily rebuilt momentum through radio, events and production, securing regular slots with Ibiza Club News, Underground Kollektiv and Scientific Sound Asia. His affiliations with Industrial Force and Zeta Records further reflect his ongoing involvement within the global breaks and breakbeat community.
The Ministry of Breaks brand has continued to grow in London through a distinct blend of breaks, bass and stripped-back club energy. Alongside the radio show, Blaze DJ has expanded the project through Breaks n Bass events and the relaunch of both his personal and MOB YouTube channels, providing a dedicated platform for mixes, performances and curated content.
With episode 42, Blaze DJ continues to reinforce Ministry of Breaks as a focused outlet for underground breakbeat culture, grounded in experience, community and a long-term commitment to club music beyond cycles and trends.
The opening section of Ministry of Breaks 42 by Blaze DJ establishes a firm breakbeat foundation, moving between modern UK Bass and straight Breaks. Cuts such as Are U Ready and LDN Town underline a contemporary bass-led direction, while deeper selections keep the rhythmic focus locked on broken patterns rather than four-to-the-floor structures.
As the mix develops, Blaze DJ leans into Tech Breaks and Electro Breaks, with darker, more mechanical material shaping the middle stretch. Tracks like Higher and Liberation bring a sharper edge, sitting closer to techno in pace and tension while retaining classic breakbeat swing.
The latter half draws heavily on Nu Skool Breaks and Funk Breaks, reconnecting with the genre’s late-90s and early-2000s lineage. Nighthawk and Scorpio reference the sound that defined modern breakbeat, while funk-driven cuts such as Ride Da Rhythm keep the groove raw and physical.
Closing out the episode, UK Garage and bassline-influenced breaks appear alongside legacy big-beat material, tying the set together without straying from its core identity. 2 Step Skank and The Answer reinforce the hybrid nature of the mix, ending Ministry of Breaks 42 firmly rooted in underground breakbeat culture.
Catch the live broadcast on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 6 PM to 8 PM Indochina Time (ICT), and don’t forget to tune in for the re-run on Tuesday from 6 AM to 8 AM (ICT).
