Bicycle Corporation has unveiled the track list for episode 204 of their acclaimed Roots show. Broadcast via Scientific Sound Asia, one of the leading electronic music stations, event organisers and DJ agencies in the region, the series continues to celebrate the depth and diversity of global music culture, captivating audiences across Asia and beyond.
For more than a decade, Bicycle Corporation, the Italian duo of DJ and producer Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano (also known as 6884), has remained a vital force within the international electronic scene. Their productions span French House, Deep House, Tech House and Techno, reflecting both their versatility and their refined sense of craftsmanship.
Marco’s journey began in the early 1990s with Urban People, a pioneering collective that helped shape Italy’s emerging underground house and techno movement. His forward-thinking approach to event organisation and his creative leadership quickly earned him recognition, opening doors to international stages.
Stefano, born and raised in Turin, developed a strong musical foundation through classical piano, percussion and drumming, drawing inspiration from Chopin as well as traditional West African rhythmic forms. His growing fascination with DJ culture and turntablist techniques later blended with his formal training, shaping a distinct and expressive production style.
Together, Marco and Stefano have consistently evolved while remaining deeply connected to their origins. Their enduring partnership and their recent revisiting of earlier material, now available on their Bandcamp page, highlight their ongoing dedication to their artistic path.
With Roots, they continue to explore and honour the sounds that have influenced generations. Their performances weave together Funk, Disco, Afrobeat, Rare Groove, Soul and Brazilian rhythms, forming a rich, timeless fusion that defines the Bicycle Corporation ethos.
Bicycle Corporation opens Roots episode 204 with a strong foundation in Jazz-Funk and Fusion, drawing on timeless recordings that helped shape crossover jazz in the 1970s. Tracks like Ju Ju Man, Theme From The Outcast and Expansions immediately establish a rich, rhythmic palette, where soulful arrangements and forward-thinking musicianship sit comfortably alongside groove-driven compositions.
The journey continues through classic Jazz Fusion territory, with pieces such as Eighteen, Sun Goddess and Before It’s Too Late highlighting melodic sophistication and studio precision. Brazilian and Latin influences surface naturally through Sentido En Seis and Whistle Stop, adding warmth, swing and percussive detail while maintaining the episode’s fluid pacing.
Midway through the set, funk takes a more pronounced role. Brother Green (The Disco King), Hang Up Your Hang Ups and Chameleon showcase Jazz-Funk at its most dancefloor-ready, while selections from Johnny Hammond, Donald Byrd and George Benson reinforce the deep connection between jazz harmony, funk rhythm and soulful expression.
The closing stretch broadens the scope with experimental and electronic touches. Modesa and Coup introduce darker, more abstract textures, creating contrast before the episode resolves with raw funk energy on Don’t Tell It. Roots episode 204 stands as a carefully curated exploration of Jazz-Funk’s evolution, celebrating its classic foundations while embracing experimentation and rhythmic diversity.
Don’t miss this lively celebration of rhythm and soul! Catch the Roots show live on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 6 PM to 8 PM Indochina Time (ICT), or tune in for the replay on Thursday from 6 AM to 8 AM (ICT).
