Bicycle Corporation has revealed Hu Yang as the featured guest DJ for their upcoming Roots episode 153. Scientific Sound Asia itself has become a cornerstone in the region, operating as a radio station, DJ agency, and event promoter with an international reach.
Bicycle Corporation is the long-running collaboration between Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and fellow artist Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Marco began his musical journey in the early 1990s, running events across Italy under the Urban People collective.
His dedication and skill soon earned him a prestigious residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Thus launching him into an international career that has taken him to stages around the globe.
Stefano, based in Torino, developed a passion for music from an early age, studying piano, percussion, and drums, while drawing inspiration from Chopin and African rhythms. His fascination with the emerging electronic scene of the 1990s led him into DJing and production.
He eventually joined forces with Marco to form Bicycle Corporation. Since then, the duo has released over 50 tracks and remixes across various genres, including House, Deep House, Tech House, and French House.
With their earlier works now reissued independently via Bandcamp, Marco and Stefano continue to push the project forward. The Roots series reflects their vision of connecting global and local talent, with guest DJs like Hu Yang adding fresh perspectives from across Asia.

Guest DJ Hu Yang.
This week’s guest is Hu Yang, a Chinese DJ, producer, and promoter widely respected within China’s underground electronic music community. He began his journey in 2013 under the alias NiChiFanLeMei, experimenting with sounds rooted in Dub Techno and Detroit Techno, styles that would shape his artistic foundation.
Hu Yang describes his production style as restrained and introverted, a reflection of his personality and contemplative approach to life. Yet, when behind the decks, he reveals a very different side, curating sophisticated, diverse, and dancefloor-driven selections that consistently energise audiences. His sets strike a rare balance: deeply introspective while fully attuned to crowd dynamics.
Over the years, Hu Yang’s unique sound and taste have earned him opportunities to share the booth with a wide range of international heavyweights, including DJ Masda, Resom, Rrose, Mike Dehnert, Marcelus, Machine Woman, Vera, and Binh. His role as co-founder of Konect Asia further cemented his influence, as he brought some of these globally recognised artists to Chinese audiences for the very first time.
As a selector, Hu Yang prides himself on digging beyond the obvious, building a collection that spans Chicago House, Detroit House, Dub Techno, Disco, and UK Garage. His eclectic taste avoids clichés, instead favouring tracks that challenge expectations while still keeping dancefloors moving.
His reputation as both a performer and promoter has led him across Asia, with appearances at Mihn Club (Hong Kong), Savage (Hanoi), Beton Brut (Seoul), and the celebrated Equation Festival, known as one of the premier gatherings for House and Techno in the region. These international appearances highlight his role as a bridge between China’s underground scene and the broader Asian circuit.
Through his productions, performances, and tireless promotion of electronic music culture, Hu Yang has become a distinguished figure in the Asian scene, embodying both the depth and the forward-thinking ethos of contemporary club culture.
Hu Yang’s Roots 153 begins with Culture Box’s Got To Get It (Hypnotic Mix), a Euro House cut that sets an atmospheric foundation. Fabula’s Morgana and Zona Viva’s Incantation continue the early rise, delivering sweeping Progressive Trance layers with mystic depth. K-Alexi’s Sex N-R-001 (Vocal Mix) then shifts to classic House warmth, paired with Audio One’s Total Science, before Pluto’s Floorstruck recalls the early trance era with an uplifting drive.
The show continues to merge rhythm and experimentation, with Get Fucked’s Manyana (JV’s Remix) introducing a Tech House edge and Molen’s Atrapasuelos keeping House in motion. Antoine Sy’s Gounzibas Under Pressure takes things into Acid Breaks grit, before Post Play’s Citron and Deep88’s Funkbox revive classic House grooves. The mood deepens with Alsi’s Shot Through The Head, a dark Techno drive, and Stigma’s Mountain Dew, powered by raw Acid.
Minimal atmospheres surface with S.H.A.T’s Hysteria, leading into Holy Garage’s Surprise, a Tech House roller, and As Another’s Oblique, which fuses Electro Breaks dynamism with underground force. Optic Eye’s Sunburst then softens the flow, balancing Trance and Ambient textures with ethereal tones, creating a reflective passage.
The closing tracks reach peak energy with 777’s Alpha Wave, a pounding Acid Techno piece, before Naghachian’s Dawn of Emptiness blends Trance and Acid to end the episode with intensity and emotional resonance. Roots 153 proves Hu Yang’s versatility, balancing House, Trance, Progressive Trance, and Acid with deeper layers of Breaks, Minimal, and Ambient.
