Bicycle Corporation has announced their guest DJ Hadiid for Roots episode 154. Scientific Sound Asia, the Asian-based electronic music station, DJ agency, and promoter, continues to support underground sounds across the region and beyond.

Bicycle Corporation is the collaborative project of Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and classically trained musician Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Marco began his musical journey in the early 1990s, organising events under the Urban People collective throughout Italy. His reputation soon earned him a residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, which opened doors to international bookings and a career performing alongside some of the world’s leading electronic music artists.

Stefano, from Torino, Italy, displayed musical promise from an early age, studying classical piano, percussion, and drums, while drawing inspiration from Chopin and West African djembe. As a teenager, he became increasingly fascinated by DJing and electronic production, developing a passion for sounds that were rarely heard on Italian radio in the 1990s. His path eventually crossed with Marco’s, and Bicycle Corporation was born.

Since then, the duo has released more than 50 tracks and remixes spanning Deep House, Tech House, French House, and Techno, appearing on labels such as Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, Suka, and GrooveTraxx. Recently, they have reissued some of their earlier catalogue independently via Bandcamp, making their back catalogue available once again to global audiences.

Roots continues to serve as a platform for DJs and producers from across Asia, blending the duo’s own influences with fresh perspectives from the region’s underground scene. Episode 154 welcomes guest DJ Hadiid, furthering the series’ mission of cultural connection and musical discovery.

Guest DJ Hadiid.

This week's guest is Hadiid, the electronic music artist is an Asian-born and bred DJ and producer. He originates from the island of Borneo, carrying a diversified selection of sounds, pushing boundaries wherever he plays.

Throughout his DJing career, he has ventured around playing gigs in Asia, including Koh Phangan, Manila, Jakarta, Bali, and Kuala Lumpur. This allowed him to support local stars and international acts such as Hugo Mendez (Sofrito) and Mathias Schober (Lossless).

As part of the NWHR collective, he now pushes his hometown scene by organising pop-up parties and intimate gigs around Kuching city. Creating diversity in music as well as opportunities for like-minded artists to perform in an ideal environment and educating masses of alternative music cultures other than pop is the ultimate goal of NWHR.

Currently, Hadiid is signed to record labels spanning regions from Berlin, Russia, Ukraine, South America and also Asia. These labels include Polytypch, Black Beard, Vertigo Audio, Uxoa Dutxa Elite, Eclipse Recordings, Kaleydo Records, Asia Music, Pizza Tunait, Dear Deer Records, Leftright Sounds, Bullfinch Records, Lossless, Deepsomnia and most recently TAU by The Adana Twins.

Hadiid opens Roots Episode 154 with Afro House selections, including Live The Moment by Senzo C & Jurie and Atewo-Lara Ka Tepa Mo’se (Jùish Edit), carrying powerful percussion and cultural roots. Latin House flavours follow with Celia Cruz in Un Bembe Pa' Yemaya and Public Invasion Project’s Amazzonia and Airto, fusing heritage and modern rhythm.

The set shifts into House grooves with Rob Hayes’ Canción Sol and Quantic-inspired reworks before moving toward Disco with Chewy Rubs’ Bo Fo. Brazilian soul flows through Danny Perez’s Cueira while Doug Gomez & Peppe Citarella deliver Afro/Latin House fusions like Celía Y Tito. These tracks highlight the merging of deep culture with dancefloor vibrance.

Hadiid weaves in No Words by Sebas Ramis and Manyè (Simbad Remix), emphasising Afro House depth alongside deep house selections like Carnival Bump and Saison’s Show Me. Funk and Soul nods appear with Hiatt DB’s 6 O’Clock Rock while Honey Dijon’s Not About You (KDA Remix) bridges into House modernity.

Closing on Afro/Latin House with Brazil Da Slam and soul-charged grooves, Episode 154 is a tapestry of Afro House, Latin House, Soulful House, Deep House, Disco, and Funk. Hadiid’s blend affirms the global heartbeat of the Roots series.
