Bicycle Corporation has announced guest DJ Brendon P for Roots episode 171. Scientific Sound Asia continues to operate as an Asian electronic music station, promoter and DJ agency, serving both regional and international audiences through its broadcasts and live events.
Bicycle Corporation is the Italian duo of DJ and producer Marco Mei and classically trained musician Stefano Ugliano, known professionally as 6884. Together they have released numerous tracks and remixes spanning Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno, building a catalogue that reflects both club functionality and musical depth.
Marco began his journey in the early 1990s, initially working with event crews such as Urban People. Through dedication and consistency, he established himself within Italy’s underground scene, becoming a respected and in-demand selector. His reputation steadily expanded beyond national borders, leading to international bookings and a career that now spans multiple continents.
Stefano, born and raised in Torino, demonstrated strong musical ability from a young age. He devoted much of his time to studying classical piano, percussion and drums, developing an appreciation for Chopin’s compositions alongside the rhythmic traditions of the West African djembe. This classical grounding later became an important foundation for his approach to electronic production.
Despite his broad musical education, it was the figure of the DJ that truly captured Stefano’s imagination. In the 1990s, electronic beats were rarely heard on mainstream Italian radio, yet the idea of creating and performing that music became a clear ambition. With focus and persistence, that early fascination evolved into reality through his partnership with Marco, forming what would become Bicycle Corporation.
Despite their international recognition today, Marco and Stefano remain connected to their beginnings. They have recently revisited earlier productions and launched a Bandcamp page to make these formative works accessible once again. Through Roots, they continue to feature respected DJs and producers from across Asia and the wider electronic community, strengthening connections between scenes while honouring the foundations of underground dance music.

Guest DJ Brendon P.
Guest DJ Brendon P, whose real name is Brendon Perera, is a Singapore-based selector known for his understated, refined approach to DJing. With more than four decades behind the decks, he remains one of the region’s most experienced figures in club culture.
His journey began in 1980 on Singapore’s mobile DJ circuit before moving into nightclubs the following year. A formative trip to New York in 1984 introduced him to venues such as Funhouse, Paradise Garage, Danceteria and Area, immersing him in the emerging club movement that would later shape modern house music.
Exposure to this environment left a lasting impression and continues to influence his musical direction today. Across the decades, he has explored a wide musical spectrum, gradually developing a distinctive ear for groove-driven dance music.
His selections now move comfortably between House, Techno, Disco, Nu Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge and Electronica, always guided by musicality rather than trends. Through the 1980s, he performed extensively with the Juliana’s and Bacchus groups, followed by 1990s residencies at Neo Pharaohs, Venom and NOX.
A defining chapter came with a nine-year residency at Singapore’s internationally recognised Zouk Club. Later, between 2001 and 2009, he held a residency at Kyo and went on to spend several years as part of the resident team at the CE LA VI rooftop club at Marina Bay Sands, remaining an active presence in both local and international circuits.
His performances have taken him worldwide, including appearances in Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taiwan, Hanoi and Hong Kong, as well as a notable appearance at New York’s Cielo in 2010. Alongside DJing, he has also released original productions and remixes on labels such as Defected, In The Woods, Audio Parallax, Reversoulmusic, Soul Shift, Hotbox Music and several Asian imprints.
Known for his attention to detail and consistent musical identity, Brendon P has earned respect across scenes and generations. His sets move fluidly through eras and styles, maintaining a balance between heritage and contemporary club sounds while prioritising atmosphere and dancefloor connection.
The opening stretch of Roots 171 by DJ Brendon P leans into warm jazz-tinged rhythms, with Blacker (Joey Negro Jazzy Remix) and Evil Vibrations setting a relaxed tone before Spirit Of Love keeps the groove rooted in funk tradition. Early disco arrives through Still In Love, and You’re So Right For Me, gradually shifting from soulful textures toward the dancefloor.
A mid-section run of edits builds continuity, from Waiting For Your Love and Minako's Yume into Get Down and Bizzness. The flow balances house structures with disco instrumentation, while She's So Divine and You Got What It Takes reinforce the late-night feel without pushing the tempo too far.
The centre of the show focuses on classic disco revisions. Boogie's Gonna Get Ya, Gennarino 'O Sioux, and Chant Number 1 maintain a steady rhythm, before I Like The Music (That You Play Inst) and Party At Da Disco bring a slightly more club-oriented edge while still retaining the vintage character.
The closing section blends funk and modern edits, moving through People Put God First, Love Is The Reason and ending on Mar-A-Lago Sunset Theme. The selection keeps a consistent groove throughout, combining older recordings and contemporary reworks into a coherent disco-centred session.
