Bicycle Corporation has announced guest DJ Brendon P for Roots episode 166, originally broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia. The station continues to serve as a key electronic music platform, promoter and DJ agency connecting underground scenes across Asia and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is the Italian duo of DJ and producer Marco Mei alongside musician and producer Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together, they have built a broad catalogue spanning Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno, shaped by strong musical foundations and club-focused energy.
Marco began his career in the early 1990s, working behind the scenes on events organised by the Urban People collective. These early experiences helped him establish a foothold in Italy’s growing underground scene, and his reputation quickly spread beyond national borders. As demand for his DJ sets grew, Marco secured international bookings that took him across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, marking the start of a long-standing global career.
Stefano, raised in Torino, showed strong musical ability from an early age. He immersed himself in classical piano, percussion and drums, developing a deep appreciation for both European composition, including the works of Chopin, and the rhythmic traditions of West African djembe. This combination of structure and groove would later inform his approach to electronic music production.
While his classical training provided a strong foundation, it was the role of the DJ that truly captured Stefano’s imagination. At a time when electronic music was rarely heard on Italian radio, the power of club culture and electronic rhythm pushed him toward experimentation and production. His meeting with Marco united two complementary musical paths, leading to the formation of Bicycle Corporation.
Despite decades of releases and international recognition, Marco and Stefano remain closely connected to their roots. Several of their early works have recently been made available via their Bandcamp page, allowing listeners to explore the foundations of their sound. The Roots series reflects this same ethos, welcoming DJs and producers from across Asia who share a deep connection to underground electronic music culture.

Guest DJ Brendon P.
DJ Brendon P, born Brendon Perera, is a Singapore native whose career spans more than four decades. Known for his low-profile, lo-fi approach and uncompromising musical taste, he has built a reputation grounded in depth, subtlety and long-term dedication to club culture rather than trends or hype.
His journey began in 1980 within Singapore’s mobile DJ circuit, before moving into clubs the following year. A formative trip to New York in 1984 proved pivotal. Immersing himself in venues such as the Funhouse, Paradise Garage, Danceteria and Area, Brendon absorbed the energy and ethos of the city’s club culture at a time when house music was still taking shape.
These experiences left a lasting imprint on his musical direction and philosophy as a DJ. Over the years, Brendon P has drawn from a wide range of influences, both locally and internationally, refining a sound rooted in House, Techno, Disco, Nu Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge and Electronica.
His ability to move fluidly across musical styles while maintaining coherence and restraint has become a defining characteristic of his sets. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he played extensively across Singapore and abroad, including work with the Juliana’s and Bacchus groups, residencies at Neo Pharaohs, Venom and NOX, and a landmark nine-year residency at the internationally recognised Zouk Club in Singapore.
Between 2001 and 2009, he also held a residency at Kyo, and in more recent years has been part of the resident team at CÉ LA VI Rooftop Club and SkyBar at Marina Bay Sands. Alongside these long-term commitments, he continues to appear regularly across the regional and international club circuit.
Brendon P has performed in cities around the world, including Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taipei, Hanoi and Hong Kong, and notably played at the now-defunct Cielo Club in New York in 2010. As a producer, he has released original material and remixes on a wide range of respected labels across the US, UK, Europe and Asia, reflecting the same musical integrity found in his DJ work.
Respected for his attention to detail and disciplined approach to selection, Brendon P has earned praise from influential figures within the global club community. Nicolas Matar, founder of New York’s Cielo and Output, has described him as a “taste master” and one of the strongest DJs in the region. His sets consistently bridge past, present and future, offering a refined journey shaped by experience, musical knowledge and an unwavering commitment to quality.
The opening stretch of Roots 166 by DJ Brendon P sets a relaxed but purposeful tone, easing listeners in with Voyager 2 in The Reflex revision before drifting into cosmic disco territory through No Mistake and the raw funk attitude of Dead On It. Early selections balance downtempo warmth with groove-led intent, establishing a smooth foundation rooted in classic dance culture.
As the mix unfolds, disco takes centre stage with refined edits and boogie-driven rhythms. Tracks like Heavenly, Backstrokin’ and All This Love That I’m Giving highlight Brendon P’s ear for timeless arrangements, while Keep On Steppin’ and Body Music reinforce the uplifting, dancefloor-ready energy without losing their soulful depth.
The middle section leans further into funk and disco crossover, moving confidently between Get Up, Black Skin Blue Eyed Boys and Chimi. The blend remains fluid, allowing vintage vocals and modern reworks to coexist naturally, while Susana adds a subtle Indie Dance edge that keeps the momentum fresh.
The closing run brings everything together with celebratory selections such as Free Spirit, Living For The City and I’m OK, You’re OK, before finishing on the infectious joy of Red Alert and I Love Music. It is a warm, uplifting finale that captures DJ Brendon P’s ability to connect disco heritage with contemporary house sensibility.
