Terence C, a respected guest DJ and seasoned selector, joins Bicycle Corporation for episode 136 of Electronic Roots, broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia. As a leading platform for electronic music in Asia and beyond, Scientific Sound Asia continues to spotlight underground talent through its radio shows, live events, and DJ agency.

Bicycle Corporation is the collaboration between Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and classically trained musician Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. With more than fifty tracks and remixes released, their catalogue spans house and techno, combining rhythmic drive with melodic sophistication.

Marco began his musical journey in the early 1990s, inspired by Afro-influenced grooves and Italy’s growing underground electronic scene. His work with the Urban People collective helped shape the country’s early club culture and later led to a residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh, where he established his international reputation.

Stefano, raised in Turin, developed a strong musical foundation through studies in classical piano, percussion, and drumming. Influenced by composers such as Chopin and West African rhythms, he became increasingly drawn to electronic music and DJ culture in the 1990s. This passion eventually led to the creation of Bicycle Corporation, where his musical background met Marco’s club experience to form a unique creative partnership.

Together, Marco and Stefano stay true to their roots while continuously evolving their sound. Their Electronic Roots series explores house and techno through collaborations with guest DJs from across Asia, fostering cultural exchange and keeping the underground spirit alive. Episode 136 featuring Terence C continues this vision, delivering a refined, groove-driven journey that captures the essence of the region’s ever-evolving scene.

Terence C, a renowned Malaysian DJ and producer now based in Shanghai, headlines this week’s edition of Electronic Roots on Scientific Sound Asia. With over two decades of experience, he is widely regarded as one of Asia’s most respected selectors, known for his deep musical knowledge and consistently high-calibre performances.

He played a pivotal role in developing Kuala Lumpur’s house and techno scenes, holding long-term residencies at some of the city’s leading venues. His ability to read the room and deliver with precision earned him a trusted place in the region’s nightlife, along with the admiration of peers and audiences alike.

Over the years, Terence has shared stages with icons such as David Morales, Fatboy Slim, and Pete Tong. He also became a frequent opener for John Digweed’s Malaysian shows, particularly at the legendary Zouk Club in Kuala Lumpur, a partnership that left memorable marks on the local electronic landscape.

His deep connection with Zouk further solidified his reputation. In the years before the pandemic, he co-founded We Love Techno with DJ XU, a monthly series dedicated to driving sounds from labels like Drumcode and Cocoon. The night quickly gained a devoted following and injected fresh underground energy into Kuala Lumpur’s scene.

Terence began his career in 1998 under the mentorship of DJ Chris Doss, building his name through early gigs at Cubeat and Globar. A pivotal moment came when he was invited to support David Morales’ first Malaysian performance, which led to regular slots at Movement Club, Backroom, Nouvo, and Atmosphere.

His influence soon reached beyond Malaysia. He played at prominent venues across Southeast Asia, including Lush in Singapore and Liquid in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2005, he co-founded Altered Image with Callen Tham and Digital, a multimedia live project that blended cinematic visuals, turntablism, and electronic music. The project won the Malaysian edition of the Heineken Thirst competition and toured across the region.

In recent years, Terence has refined his approach by embracing hybrid setups combining traditional DJ gear and Ableton Live, broadening his performance capabilities. He remains active in radio and mix series, with his Movement Control sessions continuing to release new editions such as Movement Control 275, keeping him visible within the underground mix circuit.

His studio work is gaining traction, with fresh material set for release in the near future. As curator for Electronic Roots, Terence brings forward-looking insight and a refined sensibility to house and techno. His presence on Scientific Sound Asia underlines his ongoing influence on Asia’s underground electronic movement and his commitment to innovation and connection through sound.

Electronic Roots 136 opens with Die Vögel’s Phantom of the Paradise and Spooky’s Bells Of Fury Part III, establishing a cinematic and atmospheric tone. WAHM’s Destiny, remixed by Henrik Schwarz, introduces Afro House textures before Xinobi’s Morangos (Acid Pauli Remix) and Greg Gow’s Lantana lift the set into elegant Melodic House & Techno territory. The flow continues through Henry Saiz’s The Quest and Afters at Serge’s by Of Norway, striking a perfect balance between groove and melody.

As the mix progresses, Jepe’s Memoire and Flowrz showcase the crossover between Deep House and Indie Dance, while Reset Robot’s Kicks and Ian O'Donovan’s Loinnir reintroduce strong melodic rhythms. Jonathan Kaspar’s Power and Mathias Kaden’s Freedom (Uptempo Rework) carry the energy upward with hypnotic motion, joined by the trio of John Digweed, Marc Romboy, and Nick Muir on Sigani Meomchun — a bold nod to modern Progressive mastery.

In the later stages, Funk D’Void’s Diabla (Paul James Nolan Remix) and Cortona’s Systematica fuse vintage melodic layers with peak-time drive. Madben’s My Groovy Animoog injects deeper Techno pressure, while Baunder & Cass deliver Anger Management, a refined Progressive piece reworked with precision. Auggie’s Charrè (Mano Le Tough Remix) softens the transition toward introspection, guided by layered atmospherics.

The journey concludes with Musumeci’s Mr Q and Andy Kneale’s Louie, where Deep House warmth meets raw Techno foundations. Throughout the hour, Terence C demonstrates his signature craftsmanship — weaving Melodic House & Techno with subtle touches of Progressive and Indie energy, creating an experience that feels both timeless and forward-thinking.

Listen live on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025, from 6 PM to 8 PM Indochina Time (ICT), and hear the replay on Sunday from 6 AM to 8 AM (ICT).
