Bicycle Corporation introduced guest DJ Murphy Kin a.k.a DJ Lucy for his new Roots show. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music station, promoter, and DJ Agency for the Asian region and globally.

Bicycle Corporation is a collaboration between Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and talented producer Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together, they have produced and remixed over 50 original tracks in House and Techno, making a lasting impact on the electronic music scene.

Marco began his journey as a DJ in the early 90s, inspired by the rise of Electronic music and Afro-centric rhythms. Once in the industry, he founded Urban People, hosting House and Techno events across Italy. From there, Marco deepened his exploration of sound and event planning, eventually earning a residency at Pacha in Egypt.

This significant role boosted his reputation, unlocking international DJ opportunities that launched him into a global career. His experiences at Pacha sparked his ambition to share his talents with audiences worldwide.

Stefano, originally from Torino, Italy, showed exceptional musical promise early on. Guided by his parents into music, he devoted himself to classical piano, percussion, and drums, inspired by a range of music from Chopin to West African rhythms. This broad background has shaped his influence on electronic music.

Stefano’s early exposure to diverse genres helped him develop a deep musical foundation. His fascination with electronic music began during the 90s when it was rarely broadcast on Italian radio, yet its rhythms and melodies captivated him.

Despite their success, Marco and Stefano remain grounded. They have revisited some of their early works, showcasing their dedication to their musical origins. Recently, they created a Bandcamp page to share their works, underscoring their commitment to preserving their artistic heritage.

Guest DJ Murphy Kin.

This week's guest DJ is Murphy Kin, also known as DJ Lucy. DJ Lucy is driven by an insatiable curiosity, always digging for new sounds and inspirations. Originally hailing from the movie industry, his approach to being a DJ and music producer is both unlimited and unbounded, reflecting his artistic versatility.

Listening to his music is akin to watching a film; it has peaks and troughs, a story unfolding with every beat. His sets don’t conform to a straightforward 4/4 rhythm nor aim to transport listeners to a euphoric state from the very beginning. Instead, he gradually builds his sets with precision, taking his audience on a journey through romantic rock, classic old-school vibes, flirtatious R&B, and eventually into Disco, Indie, Rock, and Dance. It’s a musical experience designed to evoke cinematic emotions and draw listeners into a carefully crafted narrative.

Murphy Kin's unique style creates the feeling of being in a movie scene, building to a climax through intricate beats. Known for his boundless energy and positivity, His musical tastes span a wide range of genres. From Hip-Hop and Rock to Punk, Indie Rock, and Jazz, his ability to rhythmically navigate through diverse styles ensures an emotional and engaging experience for his audience.

Since 2015, DJ Murphy Kin has led Ting Ting Disco, a collective celebrated for hosting exceptional parties across bars, pubs, clubs, and venues in Taipei and Shanghai. By 2017, Ting Ting Disco expanded its reach, performing in other Chinese cities and embarking on tours across Asia. The collective’s ambition grew further in 2021, with the launch of online music releases aimed at offering music lovers a broader spectrum of choices by integrating global music productions.

A live performance by DJ Murphy Kin is anything but predictable. He eschews rules and scripts, allowing the moment, vibe, and atmosphere to guide his play. Sometimes, he lets the audience’s energy lead the way; at other times, he takes control, directing the emotional flow like a master filmmaker. His sets are a testament to his ability to blur the lines between music and storytelling, captivating audiences with his unorthodox approach and boundless creativity.

Roots Episode 132, hosted by Guest DJ Murphy Kin (a.k.a DJ Lucy), takes listeners on an eclectic journey through Disco, Indie Dance, Deep House, and more. Soulful selections like Namy's "There She Stands" (Urban Mix) and the deep vibes of Parra for Cuva’s "Swept Away" add emotional depth to the mix.

Listeners will enjoy Disco classics like Oby Onyioha’s "I Want To Feel Your Love" and Chic’s "Hangin'," alongside fresh Indie Dance energy with Moullinex’s "Summerman" and Chromeo’s "Bonafied’ Lovin" (RAC Mix).
