Bicycle Corporation has announced guest DJ Marcy for an upcoming edition of their Foundations show. Broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, the programme continues the station’s role as a leading electronic music platform, DJ agency and promoter serving audiences across Asia and internationally.

Bicycle Corporation is the long-standing Italian partnership of DJ and producer Marco Mei and classically trained musician Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together, the duo have released well over fifty productions spanning a wide range of house and techno styles, including deep house, melodic house, French house, tech house and techno, always grounded in strong musical foundations and club culture.

Marco began his journey in the early 1990s, working behind the scenes with event collectives such as Urban People. Through persistence, technical skill and an instinctive feel for the dancefloor, he steadily built a reputation within Italy’s underground scene. His growing profile soon led to residencies and bookings nationwide, followed by international appearances that expanded his reach far beyond his home country.

Stefano, born and raised in Torino, showed a deep connection to music from an early age. He devoted much of his childhood to studying classical piano, percussion and drums, developing a strong appreciation for both European composition, particularly the works of Chopin, and the rhythmic traditions of West African djembe. This broad musical grounding would later become a defining feature of his production work.

Despite his classical training, it was the role of the DJ that truly captivated Stefano as a teenager. At a time when electronic music was rarely heard on Italian radio, the idea of creating and sharing those sounds with a wider audience became a powerful motivation. What initially felt like an unreachable ambition gradually took shape through determination, experimentation and countless hours refining his craft.

That shared vision eventually brought Marco and Stefano together, forming Bicycle Corporation. Even with their continued success and international output, the duo remain closely connected to their roots. In recent years, they have revisited some of their earliest productions and made them available via their Bandcamp page, offering listeners a deeper insight into the foundations of their sound and the journey that shaped their enduring collaboration.

Guest DJ Marcy.

This week’s guest DJ is Marcy, a highly respected selector from Okinawa, Japan, who is currently celebrating over 25 years behind the decks. A dedicated figure within Japan’s underground scene, Marcy continues to spend most weekends doing what he loves most, performing for local crowds at clubs and intimate venues.

His journey into DJ culture began as a teenager after acquiring his first set of turntables, learning the craft through long hours spent practising in his bedroom. Driven by curiosity and a desire to deepen his musical understanding, he later relocated to New York, where exposure to the city’s diverse club culture helped shape his creative outlook and refine his approach to DJing.

Following his return from the United States, Marcy’s career gained momentum in Tokyo, where he established himself within the capital’s nightlife scene. From there, his reputation grew steadily, leading to performances across Asia at a range of respected venues, each experience adding depth to his sound and confidence behind the decks.

His travels also took him to Ibiza, where he immersed himself in the island’s unique blend of club culture, hedonism and musical freedom. After this formative period, he returned to Okinawa, bringing with him a broadened perspective shaped by years of international experience.

Throughout his career, Marcy has shared the booth with influential artists including Gerald Mitchell, Frank Muller, Hiroshi Watanabe a.k.a. Kaito, Paul Murphy and Phil Mison, further cementing his standing within the underground community. Stylistically, Marcy is known for his versatility and fluidity.

His sets move effortlessly between house, nu disco, minimal and techno, always guided by atmosphere and crowd response rather than rigid genre boundaries. He currently holds a residency at bar b.p.m. in Okinawa, where his deep musical knowledge and refined selection continue to resonate with local audiences.

With decades of experience behind him and a passion that shows no sign of slowing, Marcy is now looking outward once again, ready to bring his sound to new cities, new dancefloors and fresh audiences beyond Japan.

The episode opens with indie dance and house-inflected warmth, as Pastillitas and Digital Love set a melodic but off-kilter tone. These early selections ease listeners into the mix, balancing groove-led rhythms with a playful electronic edge.

Deep house becomes more prominent through The Light, Moorthon II and Ongaku, where smooth basslines and understated arrangements create a rolling, late-night flow. The progression remains patient, allowing each track space to breathe while maintaining momentum.

Energy rises through minimal and tech house selections like Sproba 003, Rosinablue and Brutal, before the mix pivots decisively into peak-time territory. Tracks such as Homequest, No Takers and Source introduce driving drums and forward motion without sacrificing control.

The closing stretch leans heavily into techno, moving between hypnotic depth and forceful impact. Reflect and Comparative Neuropathology bring darker textures, before The Healer, Stomper and Cosmic Tribe deliver a powerful finale that underlines DJ Marcy’s confident handling of modern club and warehouse techno.
