Bicycle Corporation has announced guest DJ Brendon P for episode 155 of their long-running Roots series. Scientific Sound Asia, the station behind the show, continues to serve as a hub for electronic music in Asia and internationally, functioning as a radio station, DJ agency, and event organiser.

Bicycle Corporation is the partnership between Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and classically trained musician Stefano Ugliano, better known by his alias 6884. Their output spans Deep House, Tech House, French House, and Techno, with releases on respected labels and a reputation for delivering sets that blend experience with forward-looking energy.

Marco began his career in the early 1990s as part of the crew for the Urban People collective, quickly making a name for himself across Italy. His growing recognition soon led to international bookings, taking his style and selections around the world.

Stefano, from Torino, displayed musical promise from an early age. He studied classical piano, percussion, and drums, developing a deep appreciation for both Western traditions such as Chopin's compositions and global rhythms like the West African Djembe. His passion for music eventually led him towards DJing and production at a time when electronic sounds were rarely heard on Italian radio.

Together, Marco and Stefano built Bicycle Corporation through dedication and vision, creating a project that pays tribute to their roots while pushing new boundaries. Despite their success, they remain mindful of their beginnings, revisiting earlier tracks and making them available through their Bandcamp page.

Their Roots series reflects this ethos, hosting guest DJs and producers from across Asia who share a connection to the region’s vibrant electronic scene. Episode 155 welcomes Singaporean DJ Brendon P, a respected figure with decades of experience, whose inclusion underscores the show’s commitment to linking international talent with Asia’s evolving underground culture.

DJ Brendon P, whose real name is Brendon Perera, is a veteran of Singapore’s music scene with a career spanning more than four decades. Known for his low-profile, lo-fi approach, he began in 1980 on the mobile DJ circuit before moving into club residencies the following year.

A pivotal moment came in 1984 with a visit to New York, where nights spent at legendary venues such as the Funhouse, Paradise Garage, Danceteria, and Area introduced him to the city’s club culture. These experiences shaped his sound and connected him to the roots of house music, which has remained central to his artistic identity.

Through the 1980s and 1990s, Brendon built his reputation both locally and abroad, working with the Juliana’s and Bacchus groups and securing residencies at clubs including Neo Pharaohs, Venom, and NOX. He went on to hold a nine-year residency at the world-famous Zouk Club in Singapore, followed by a two-year stint at Kyo, and later became part of the resident team at CE LA VI Rooftop Club & Skybar at Marina Bay Sands, where he has performed for the past six years.

His career has also taken him around the world, with appearances in cities such as Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taiwan, Hanoi, and Hong Kong. A highlight was his 2010 performance at the acclaimed Cielo Club in New York. Alongside DJing, he has built a strong production catalogue with releases and remixes on labels including Defected (UK), Los Grandes (Spain), In The Woods (USA), Audio Parallax (UK), Soul Shift (USA), Rawjak (Singapore), and One With Music (Singapore).

Brendon’s style bridges House, Techno, Disco, Nu Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge, and Electronica, reflecting his deep musical background and ability to adapt across genres. His sets are marked by sophistication, attention to detail, and an instinctive sense of flow. Nicolas Matar, founder of New York’s Cielo and Output, described him as a “taste master” and one of the finest DJs in the region. Brendon P remains a trusted name in global club culture, delivering sets that cross boundaries of past, present, and future.

Roots 155 with guest DJ Brendon P opens with The Secret Soul Society’s Boogie People and Nelson Bishop’s Alice et Les Aloes remixed by Darshan Jesrani, introducing warm nu disco and Balearic textures. Brenda Fassie’s Mingi Mingi in Norman Jay’s reimagining injects Afro disco energy, while Hillside’s For Daniel remixed by Bosq adds Afro-Latin jazz-funk rhythms. Alma Negra and Guinu carry forward the Afro influence, blending organic house structures and Brazilian grooves with rich percussion.

Masters At Work featuring Roy Ayers’ Our Time Is Coming follows, bridging soulful house and funk with timeless class. Tigerbalm’s Cosmic Camel and Shina Williams’ Ogun Ijó in Captain Planet’s re-work highlight the global reach of Afro disco. Beth Orton’s Central Reservation receives a deep, spiritual remix by Joe Claussell and Jerome Sydenham, while Shaka’s All Wrapped Up offers smooth underground deep house.

The set continues with Earth, Wind & Fire’s Sing A Song refreshed by Derek Kaye and Adeva’s Music Freedom re-edited by Ziggy Phunk. Donnell Pitmann’s Love Explosion and Ripple’s The Beat Goes On keep the disco funk energy flowing, while Atmosfear’s Motivation gains a funk-driven push through DJ Butcher’s re-edit. Dimitri From Paris’ remix of Incognito’s Morning Sun adds soulful polish with jazz and funk flair.

Closing the episode, Groove Assassin’s Office Party brings a soulful house uplift in DJ Spen’s instrumental mix. The Brute Force Steel Band of Antigua end the show with a joyful calypso version of Jingle Bells, celebrating festive Caribbean roots. Episode 155 showcases DJ Brendon P’s skill in weaving disco, Afrobeat, funk, soulful house, and jazz-fusion into a seamless narrative of rhythm and groove.
