Bicycle Corporation has revealed Brendon P as the guest DJ for Episode 144 of their 'Roots' series. Broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, a radio station, DJ agency, and event organiser dedicated to promoting electronic music across Asia and internationally, the show continues to spotlight key figures in the global scene.
Bicycle Corporation is the collaboration of Italian artists Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, also known by his moniker 6884. Marco began his musical journey in the early 1990s, playing a central role in events like ‘Urban People’, which helped define Italy’s House and Techno movement at the time.
As Marco's profile grew, so did his reach. His reputation quickly extended beyond Italy, earning him gigs at clubs and festivals across Europe and Asia. Known for his versatile selections and ability to move crowds, Marco has become a respected name on the international DJ circuit.
Stefano, born and raised in Turin, demonstrated a strong musical inclination from a young age. He studied classical piano, drums, and percussion, developing an appreciation for both Western classical music and traditional African rhythms, particularly the Djembe. Despite his broad musical background, DJ culture ultimately captured his imagination.
In an era when club music was scarcely heard on Italian airwaves, Stefano’s fascination with the craft of DJing set him on a different path. He immersed himself in learning the art and, through persistence and vision, eventually joined forces with Marco to form Bicycle Corporation.
The duo has since released over 50 original productions and remixes, covering genres from Deep House and Tech-House to Techno and French House. Their work has appeared on respected labels and earned support from DJs worldwide.
Despite their achievements, Marco and Stefano have remained grounded. Recently, they’ve revisited their early catalogue, curating a collection of previously unreleased or rare tracks via their Bandcamp page, offering fans a deeper look into their musical evolution and roots.

Guest DJ Brendon P.
DJ Brendon P, whose real name is Brendon Perera, is a native of Singapore and has worked as a disc jockey for over four decades. Known for his understated, low-profile approach, he has built a reputation through his deep musical knowledge and longstanding presence in the industry.
Brendon began his journey in 1980 on the Singaporean mobile DJ circuit, moving into club residencies just a year later. A visit to New York in 1984 proved pivotal, as he explored iconic venues such as the Funhouse, Paradise Garage, Danceteria, and Area.
These experiences introduced him to the New York club culture and to the emerging sounds that would later be known as house music. With a background spanning multiple genres, Brendon has developed a refined ear and passion for dance music.
His main styles now include House, Techno, Disco, Nu Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge, and Electronica. His career has taken him from local clubs to international stages, reflecting a consistent evolution shaped by his dedication to sound and atmosphere.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Brendon held residencies with prominent names such as Juliana’s, Bacchus, Neo Pharaohs, Venom, and NOX. From 2001 to 2009, he spent nine years as a resident DJ at Singapore’s globally acclaimed Zouk Club.
He later held a two-year residency at Kyo and spent five years as part of the resident team at CE LA VI Rooftop Club & Skybar at Marina Bay Sands. Brendon has performed in cities across the globe, including Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taipei, Hanoi, and Hong Kong.
Notably, he played at the legendary Cielo Club in New York in June 2010. As a producer, he has released original tracks and remixes on a wide range of respected labels such as In The Woods (USA), Los Grandes (Spain), Reversoulmusic (USA), Audio Parallax (UK), Hotbox Music (USA), Soul Shift (USA), Defected (UK), Rawjak (Singapore), Eclesia (Singapore), Issys Groove (UK), Love International (Malaysia), and One With Music (Singapore).
Known for his refined taste and precision, Brendon has earned praise from Nicolas Matar, owner of New York’s Cielo and Output, who referred to him as a “taste master” and one of the best DJs in the region. His sets are characterised by seamless transitions through a wide range of musical styles, drawing from the past, present, and future.
DJ Brendon P's Roots 144 begins with a soulful fusion as Keni Burke and The Mary Jane Girls blend on Casbah 73’s smooth “Risin’ To The Top/All Night Long” edit. DJ 'S' bring a disco bounce to Archie Bell & The Drells’ “Don't Let Love Get You Down”, while The Reflex injects vintage funk into Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band’s “Express Yourself”. 4Black Sugar’s “Valdez In The County” gets a Peruvian jazz-funk rework, and The Detroit Spinners’ “It’s A Shame” revisits deep soul and groove.
Patrice Rushen’s “Let There Be Funk” (The Reflex Revision) carries the jazz-funk spirit forward, followed by a modern funk injection with Inkswel’s “She Likes Techno”. Recloose gives Funkadelic’s “Sexy Ways” a disco spin, and Yazoo’s “State Farm” breaks up the groove with a synth-pop punch.
The Fatback Band’s classic gets a fresh London Bus Stop mix from Joey Negro, and Kool & The Gang’s “Jungle Boogie” (The Reflex Revision) rides a funky disco wave into the next phase. Suzy Q’s “Get On Up & Do It Again” receives a tight Dr Packer fix, followed by The Staple Singers’ “Slippery People” (Surgery Edits), and Uptown Funk Empire’s “Boogie”, which leans hard into Nu Disco energy.
Herbie Hancock’s “Just Around The Corner” and Q & The Reflex’s “The Voice of Q” continue the Reflex-led journey through layered disco textures. Los Charlys Orchestra bring instrumental flair on “The Funk Inspector”, while Roy Ayers' “Evolution” gets a Disco House rework by Art of Tones.
The final stretch sees Galaxy 2 Galaxy’s “Hi-Tech Jazz” enter deeper House territory with a Detroit signature, and Tomasz Guiddo’s “Go Back” (Pocketknife Remix) keeps the groove alive with a Disco House pulse. Closing out the session, Haruna Kuyateh’s “Kora (Instrumental)” offers a refreshing acoustic finale, nodding to Afro-Folk roots and leaving the episode grounded in global rhythm and soul.
