Scientific Sound Asia is pleased to announce the launch of a new radio show, Groove Theory, hosted by Andrew Welman. As an underground online electronic music station, promoter and DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia continues to expand its programming while connecting the Asian region with a growing international audience.
Originally from Montreal, Canada, Andrew Welman is a DJ, producer and dedicated electronic music enthusiast. When he is not performing, he spends his time in the studio developing his own productions, shaping a sound driven by groove, rhythm and atmosphere.
After several years focused on a parallel career, Andrew made the decision to fully reconnect with his true passion. Returning behind the decks and into music production, his goal is to share a personal and carefully developed musical vision through both radio and live performance.
His influences draw from across the contemporary house spectrum, with inspiration from artists such as Eats Everything, Carl Cox and Honey Dijon. Alongside Groove Theory, he now holds multiple radio residencies worldwide, performing as a DJ while curating and promoting his own shows.
Andrew’s approach is rooted in mood and hypnotic groove. He favours tracks that work subtly on the dancefloor, drawing listeners in through rhythm and feel rather than force. His sets are designed to create movement almost unconsciously, where heads nod, and feet tap before the body fully realises it.
A regular presence at underground events across Canada, Andrew Welman has built a reputation for keeping dancefloors engaged through fluid, groove-led selections. His core styles span Deep House, Soulful House, Funky House and Tech House, all of which form the foundation of Groove Theory as it joins the Scientific Sound Asia broadcast schedule.
The opening stretch of Groove Theory episode 1 sets a warm and confident tone, rooted firmly in House and Jackin House foundations. Tracks like Sun Drops and Boogie Trippin establish an easy-flowing groove, while Soul Train and Da Fonk bring funk-driven basslines and crisp percussion into focus. This early section balances classic house sensibility with modern production, creating a smooth introduction built around rhythm and feel rather than big drops.
As the mix develops, the energy tightens through deeper and more club-focused selections. With Age Comes Wisdom adds a subtle Minimal and Deep Tech edge, while Lose My Mind and Taste of Freedom reintroduce uplifting house elements with strong groove control. The momentum continues with Get After It and Spirit of House, leaning into vocal house traditions and reinforcing the show’s commitment to dancefloor functionality.
The middle section highlights Jackin House at its most expressive and playful. Tracks such as Muzik, Blackbird, and Let Me Take You maintain steady pressure, while My House injects a Garage House flavour that nods to classic US and UK influences. Back To The Way and Joint Jazz continue this groove-led approach, focusing on swinging rhythms and stripped-back funk.
The closing run brings the episode full circle with a polished and confident finish. Heart of Jazz and Pass Me The Wine Please emphasise warmth and musicality, before Feel Alive and Back in the Days lift the energy once more. Final selections like Dangerous, Excited, and You Got My Love deliver a clean, upbeat conclusion, rounding out Groove Theory episode 1 as a cohesive House mix built on groove, balance and timeless club appeal.
