Guest DJ Lynsey.
The guest DJ for this week is Lynsey. She began her exploration of dance music in the early 90s when her friends introduced her to Renaissance at Venue 44 in Mansfield, UK. Right from the beginning, she developed a fondness for progressive house and more intense techno beats, becoming a frequent attendee at The Orbit in Morley, Ark, and Soak in Leeds.
At that time, she was employed at a record store and purchased her first pair of Technics SL 1210s to address her vinyl-buying addiction. She started DJing breakbeat music at venues in Manchester, which eventually led her to explore the world of Drum and Bass.
Securing 2 residencies and 2 radio shows in her hometown of Huddersfield enabled her to perform at different events nationwide. After taking a hiatus to raise her son for 5 years, she made a comeback to the music scene in 2018.
She reverted to her initial preference for Progressive House and Progressive Breaks. A friend she made within the Progressive House scene motivated her to start DJing again, leading to her growing fan base.
Lynsey is recognized for creating atmospheric Breaks sets that smoothly transition through Progressive Breaks and Progressive House, encouraging her audience to come along on a musical journey. Lately, she has also been leaning towards the darker, more intense progressive house sounds.
Lynsey hosts two monthly shows on Subcode Radio. "Momentum" features breaks, while "Yana" is a 6-hour showcase where she collaborates with producers and DJs from various genres within the world of dance music.
She is in high demand for guest mixes and is recognized as a DJ's DJ. Her guest mixes have made it to the top 10 on Proton Radio and are also featured in the archives of Frisky Radio and DI.FM.
Being the administrator of the Progressive breaks, melodic breaks, and electronica group on Facebook, she is well-connected with the majority of producers, artists, and labels in the scene. Her advocacy for the music she loves has made her widely recognized among the community.
In Episode 633 of After Hours, PatriZe opens the first hour with a dynamic selection of Progressive House tracks. From the ambient “At the Golden Hour” by Plemax, remixed by Juman & Felipe Gurascier, to the immersive beats of Michael A’s “Passion,” this hour captivates with its deep atmospheres and textured layers.
Lynsey takes the reins in the second hour, featuring transformative remixes like Discognition's take on Beije’s “Ecdysis” and Framewerk's "Dance of the Crab." This set dives further into the emotive essence of Progressive House, with tracks that offer a rich blend of rhythms and resonant tones.
