Yushka is starting a new House Party show

Yushka launches House Party, a new show on Scientific Sound Asia replacing the weekly Funk Sessions. The platform operates as an underground electronic music radio station for the Asian region and international audiences, alongside its work as a DJ agency, promoter and music news outlet.

House Party will present electronic music across a wide range of styles, drawing from Yushka’s own background and a rotating circle of DJ friends. The opening edition is a Drum and Bass special, with Yushka joined by Robson Jr and Matty C.

For Yushka, house parties, especially those in the United Kingdom, hold a strong personal meaning. They can range from quiet gatherings to small club-style events, or even raves held inside a home.

This radio show is dedicated to the louder end of that culture. It takes its cue from those parties that might begin with a Thursday drink and end days later with everyone wondering how they never made it out of the house. Part of the appeal is the freedom that house parties can offer. Like free parties or raves, they allow room for experimentation, but with the added comfort of being able to put the kettle on at any time.

At their best, house parties become temporary communities shaped by welcoming people, spontaneous art and unexpected music. DJs often take risks they might avoid in clubs, playing across styles and following the mood of the room.

Drum and Bass has always been a mainstay at the house parties Yushka has hosted. Although it is one of his favourite genres to hear and dance to, he has not often released Drum and Bass mixes.

For this first edition, he goes fully into the sound with selected Drum and Bass tracks from the last 20 years. Matty C and Robson Jr join him for a session rooted in friendship, party culture and high-energy selections.

Over the coming months, House Party will bring together different styles from Yushka and DJs from around the world. The series begins with Drum and Bass, but its wider direction leaves room for unusual, experimental and unpredictable mixes.

Three back-to-back selections bring together Drum and Bass, Jungle, Ragga Jungle, Liquid Funk, Jump Up and reggae-led club material. Chase & Status open with Pieces, a vocal Drum and Bass track featuring Plan B that sets the first movement in a dramatic and dancefloor-focused frame.

Conquering Lion’s Code Red in the Serial Killaz remix moves the sound into Jungle and Ragga Jungle territory. Danny Byrd’s Junction 18 then brings a brighter Liquid Funk contrast before Deekline, General Levy and Tippa Irie add reggae vocal force with Pass Me The Rizla.

DJ Zinc’s Creeper with Dynamite MC gives the mix a classic Drum and Bass and Jump Up reference, keeping the rhythm direct and MC-led. Congo Natty and Rebel MC follow with Jah Warriors in the Benny Page remix, joining junglist roots with jump-up Drum and Bass pressure.

F-Block’s Sweet Cherry Lips and Blame’s Stay Forever move the selection into Liquid Funk and vocal Drum and Bass. MC $pyda’s Gangsta then returns to Ragga Jungle and Jump Up, bringing the sound back towards heavier sound-system energy.

M.I.A.’s Paper Planes in the Phibes remix and Fatboy Slim’s The Rockafeller Skank in Mulder’s Urban Takeover Mix push the set towards Dancefloor Drum and Bass. Serial Killaz then restore the Ragga Jungle line with Mash You Down, using heavy bass and reggae vocal influence.

Toots and The Maytals’ Reggae Got Soul in the Hiphoppapotamus remix brings Reggae influence into a Drum and Bass setting. Amy Winehouse’s King Of The Rehab in the Rulo Smoka edit and Erykah Badu’s Soldier in the Supa Ape remix then shift the tone towards Liquid Funk and soulful vocal material.

Shy FX and T-Power’s Don’t Wanna Know with Di and Skibadee brings Jungle and vocal Drum and Bass into the middle section. Dub Pistols, Rodney P and Lindy Layton follow with Rock Steady in the Turntable Dubbers remix, keeping the reggae and bass-led direction active.

Ed Solo’s Ganja Smuggling gives the sequence a direct Ragga Jungle entry before Dancefloor Outlaws and JFB move into a reggae Drum and Bass version of Israelites. Danny Byrd’s Blaze The Fire (Rah!) in the Sub Zero remix then adds Jump Up energy with General Levy’s vocal presence at the centre.

Featurecast’s Everybody On The Floor and Deekline’s Good To Have That Feeling push the set back towards Dancefloor Drum and Bass and Jump Up. Felice’s You Got The Love in the Dan Lee DnB remix then adds a vocal Drum and Bass lift before Laid Blak’s Roodie restores the reggae-led thread.

Deekline and Ed Solo’s No No No in the Serial Killaz remix keeps the set inside Ragga Jungle, followed by Megan Hamilton and The Bermudas with Revolution. Serial Killaz then continue the style with Save Mi Life, using YT’s vocal to maintain the Jamaican and UK jungle connection.

Mooncat’s Love Rockers brings a smoother Liquid Funk and soulful Drum and Bass passage into the late run. Shy FX’s Raggamuffin DJ and Benny Page’s Top Rank Skank, both featuring Mr. Williamz, then bring the mix firmly back to Ragga Jungle.

Phibes’ Body Drop adds a Jump Up section before Jonny L’s Back To Your Roots in the Friction and K-Tee remix connects the set to classic Drum and Bass history. High Contrast’s The Basement Track then brings Liquid Funk back into the final third with a smoother and more rolling sound.

Top Cat’s Friend In Need in the Panik and M Rode remix returns to Ragga Jungle before Adam F’s Brand New Funk adds a classic Drum and Bass and funky roller reference. Nanci and Phoebe with Congo Natty then bring Notorious in the Vital Elements remix, joining Ragga Jungle with modern jump-up weight.

Professor Green and Nahli’s Bad Decisions gives the closing stretch a vocal and dancefloor Drum and Bass entry. Leygo’s Hip Hop follows with a funky Jump Up feel before Emeli Sandé’s Heaven in the Nu remix closes the selection with Liquid Funk and vocal Drum and Bass.

The three back-to-back selections work as a Drum and Bass block led by Ragga Jungle, reggae influence and Jump Up energy. Liquid Funk, soulful vocal Drum and Bass, classic rollers and dancefloor remixes give the sequence contrast while keeping the full run inside the wider Drum and Bass framework.
