DJ Marco Mei of the Italian duo Bicycle Corporation has announced the track list for his next show. Scientific Sound Asia is the Asian electronic music station for Japan, China, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, Sri Lanka, and globally.
Originally from Turin, Italy, Marco Mei is a distinguished Italian DJ and producer with over three decades of experience in the electronic music industry. His journey began in the vibrant music scene of Turin, where his early fascination with Afrocentric music and the emerging electronic music genres laid the foundation for his illustrious career.
Marco’s passion for electronic music was evident from a young age. He spent countless hours exploring record shops and attending early rave events that were instrumental in shaping the house music and techno scenes in Italy. Along with a group of like-minded individuals, he co-founded Urban People, a collective that played a significant role in organizing events across the country, greatly influencing the development of the electronic dance music genre.
His talent and dedication quickly earned him recognition in Italy, leading to a prestigious residency at the world-renowned Pacha nightclub chain. This residency, based in Sharm el Sheikh, South Sinai, Egypt, marked a pivotal point in Marco's career, propelling him onto the international stage. His electrifying performances at Pacha brought him widespread acclaim and solidified his reputation as a leading figure in the global electronic music scene.
Marco’s career has seen him perform at some of the most prestigious venues across the world. From G-Star in Thailand to Fuse in Belgium, and Room 18 in Taiwan to Arcan in Vietnam, he has captivated audiences with his unique sound. His collaborations with prominent figures like David Morales, Roger Sanchez, and Sander Kleinenberg have further cemented his status as a respected artist within the tech house and melodic techno communities.
In 2010, Marco made a significant move to Taipei, Taiwan, where he continues to influence the local house music and techno scenes. Taipei's dynamic music scene has provided the perfect backdrop for Marco’s regular performances, particularly at iconic venues such as Roots Taipei and Electronic Roots. Before the global lockdown, his extensive tours across Asia, Europe, and Africa left an indelible mark on the electronic music landscape.
Not content with just performing, Marco has also made his mark as a producer. In collaboration with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884, he formed the Bicycle Corporation, a production duo that has released a diverse array of tracks spanning deep house, tech house, French house, and techno. Their work has been featured on respected labels such as 17:44 Records, Suka, Alchemy, and WL77 Groove Traxx, earning them a place among the best electronic music artists in the industry.
Marco’s influence extends beyond the decks and the studio. He hosts a popular weekly radio show that showcases an eclectic mix of genres, from nu-disco and indie dance to melodic house and techno. His show is a testament to his deep knowledge of electronica and his commitment to supporting both established and emerging artists. His contributions to the global electronic music community are widely recognized, and he continues to inspire listeners and fellow artists alike.
