French DJ and producer DJ King Flow returns with a new edition of Mixtape Addict, delivering a carefully selected mix of underground hip hop. Broadcast via Scientific Sound Asia, the Vietnam-based international radio station and promoter, the show continues to act as a global platform for artists who uphold the core values of hip hop culture.
DJ King Flow began his journey at the age of fourteen, developing a style rooted in boom bap while maintaining a contemporary perspective. His approach respects the foundations of 90s hip hop while remaining firmly connected to the present, consistently supporting emerging voices across the underground scene.
This ability to move between generations has earned him recognition from both listeners and artists worldwide, positioning him among the most trusted selectors in lyrical hip hop. Over the years, he has collaborated with influential figures including Ras Kass, Tragedy Khadafi, O.C., Juicy J and Khujo Goodie, forming lasting connections that reflect his dedication to preserving the genre’s lineage.
Since launching Mixtape Addict in 2015, DJ King Flow has shaped the project into a respected hub for independent artists, combining radio shows, interviews and mixtape releases to spotlight genuine talent and reinforce the strength of the underground community. Alongside his work as a selector, he continues to develop his creative voice as a producer.
His instrumental album The Adventures of F.J. Parker brings together jazz-influenced melodies, soulful textures, deep grooves and the grit associated with classic hip hop production. His 2025 output, including Money, Give the Town Some Hope and several forthcoming collaborations, reflects continued artistic progression and a clear commitment to the craft.

Interview Guest: Fashawn.
Fashawn is a hip-hop artist from Fresno, California, recognised for his introspective lyricism, grounded storytelling and strong connection to classic West Coast and boom bap traditions. He first gained wider attention with his debut album Boy Meets World, produced entirely by Exile, which was widely praised for its honesty, cohesive sound and vivid reflection of everyday life in California’s Central Valley.
Known for thoughtful writing and a calm, reflective delivery, Fashawn’s music often explores themes of identity, growth, family and perseverance. His style balances personal narrative with broader social awareness, drawing comparisons to golden era lyricism while maintaining a contemporary voice.
Following his debut, Fashawn continued to develop his catalogue through projects such as The Ecology, produced by DJ Fresh, and subsequent releases that reinforced his consistency and lyrical discipline. He has collaborated with respected artists including Nas, J. Cole, Aloe Blacc, Kendrick Lamar and Blu, further cementing his place within modern conscious and underground hip hop circles.
Throughout his career, Fashawn has remained committed to substance over trends, favouring strong songwriting and meaningful content over commercial appeal. Within the context of Mixtape Addict, he represents a lineage of West Coast lyricists who prioritise craft, clarity and authenticity, aligning with the show’s focus on artists who uphold hip hop’s core values.
The episode opens with reflective lyricism as Fashawn and Evidence set the tone on Dreams, followed by the measured intensity of Off The Scroll and Rise & Fall. Nas and DJ Premier then anchor the session in classic tradition through Writers, reaffirming the power of stripped-back Boom Bap and sharp penmanship.
The mood turns militant as Defcon 1 signals a harder edge, while Mean While In Gotham grounds the mix in gritty East Coast realism. Lyrical focus deepens through Skyzoo’s introspection on Devotion, before Perfcto restores raw pressure on Apollo.
O Dawg and Press Star keep the underground energy direct, while Soul Fly reinforces head-nod fundamentals. Krohme’s Crom! remix injects vintage Beatminerz grit, pushing the Hardcore edge forward. A darker tone settles in as The Brothers Grimm return with Gangster and Saturday Night Cleaver, balanced by the smoother nocturnal feel of Midnight Train.
Conscious reflection enters through One Foot In, before Perfcto’s Beast Mode drives the episode to its most aggressive point. The closing stretch highlights concept-driven writing on META, followed by Derange Da Messiah’s introspective Everything.
International flavour arrives through Les Vapeurs, before DJ King Flow closes the hour with an in-depth interview with Fashawn, tying together themes of craft, discipline and lyrical integrity. Episode 82 stands as a focused Boom Bap statement rooted in authenticity and global underground culture.
The live broadcast will air on Tuesday, January 13th, 2025, from 8 to 10 PM Indochina Time (ICT), with a replay set for Saturday from 8 to 10 AM (ICT).
