Scientific Sound Asia has unveiled the latest playlist for a new episode of DJ Joshua’s respected radio series, Velvety Elements. As a prominent electronic music station, event organiser, and DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia continues to play a key role in supporting the region’s vibrant music culture.

DJ Joshua, who is based in Évora, Portugal, has spent decades immersed in electronic music. His extensive collection, ranging from digital files to vinyl, CDs, and tapes, demonstrates his lifelong dedication to sound. Though his experience spans Techno, Drum & Bass, and Chillout, House music has consistently remained at the heart of his artistic expression.

In the 1990s, when Portugal’s underground music scene faced cultural resistance and infrastructure challenges, Joshua was a driving force behind its growth. He organised events, collaborated with peers, and found creative ways to share music, helping to build a scene that laid lasting foundations for House and Techno in the country.

After pausing live performances to focus on family, Joshua returned to music with fresh inspiration. He launched Floating Beats, a radio show focused on deep and melodic sounds, followed by Velvety Elements, which explores the more elegant and groove-led side of House.

Working under multiple aliases, K-Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand, and Joshua Onairam, he continues to delve into a range of House styles, each with its own creative identity. In early 2024, he launched JFLM Recordings, a label designed to release both his music and that of like-minded artists, pushing forward his refined vision of soulful, high-quality House.

Velvety Elements 267 opens with The Deep by Don Swing, setting a soulful tone that continues through Like Father, Like Son by Felipe Gordon and Anton Kubikov’s Jet Jet. These tracks highlight the warm, rolling grooves that define the early moments of DJ Joshua’s latest session.

Midway through, deeper textures emerge with Alba by F.R.E.D.Y., followed by Fabio Tosti’s Louder in its Deep In The Dark Mix. DJulz’s Lionized and Dirty Jazz by DJ Sneak bring a more percussive and jazzy flair, adding momentum while keeping the vibe intimate and fluid.

Franck Roger’s Blue leads into a more atmospheric section, complemented by Stubborn Trip by Marco Weber and the hypnotic drive of Keep Movin’ by Steve Bug. These tracks bring a more minimal and thoughtful energy as the mix deepens.

Toward the close, the Cerulean City Committee’s Chicxulub Club and G Flame’s Ohh bring subtle Tech House elements into the fold. The mix finishes with his track Voices Of Help under his moniker Joshua Marian, wrapping the set with a contemplative, groove-laden finale that reflects the show’s signature depth and finesse.

Don't forget to listen to his live radio show on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you're unable to listen live, the replay will be available on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
