The latest edition of Floating Beats, episode 719, is presented by Portuguese DJ and producer Joshua. Broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, a platform dedicated to underground electronic music, DJ culture and live events across Asia, the series continues to highlight forward-thinking artists and diverse global sounds.

Born in Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been involved in electronic music since the mid-1990s. His extensive archive of vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital releases reflects decades of dedication to sound and a long-standing connection to underground culture.

Throughout his career, he has explored a broad spectrum of styles including house, techno, drum and bass and chillout. During quieter periods for Portugal’s rave movement, he supported the underground community by organising grassroots events and collaborating with other DJs and producers, helping maintain creative momentum when the local scene needed it most.

After stepping away briefly to focus on family life, Joshua returned with renewed energy through Floating Beats, a podcast and radio series that quickly reconnected him with the international DJ circuit. Since then, Floating Beats has grown into a respected platform for melodic, progressive and atmospheric electronic music, attracting listeners from around the world.

In recent years, Joshua has broadened his artistic identity through several aliases, each representing a different facet of his sound. As K-Joshua, his 2024 Hopeful Mind EP explored deep and emotive house. Under Joshua Fernand, the Logic Move EP ventured into hypnotic and raw techno. His Joshua Marian project delivered soulful, groove-driven house with the 2025 release Chance With Soul. Meanwhile, Joshua Onairam continues to focus on cinematic and melodic textures through works such as Melodic Doubts.

His latest productions highlight a confident evolution in his style. Shiny Night (2025), released under Joshua Onairam, blends progressive melody with emotional flow, reinforcing his growing interest in atmospheric storytelling. These works build on his 2024 EPs Logic Move and Hopeful Mind, marking a continued refinement of his deep house and techno foundations.

In 2024, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings, a label created to release his own material while collaborating with underground artists who share his dedication to authenticity, depth and expressive sound. Together with Floating Beats, the label reflects his long-standing commitment to meaningful electronic music, offering listeners an ongoing journey into his creative world.

The set opens in a deep and melodic space as Pretty In Pink sets a smooth, reflective tone. Flusong follows with another Deep House groove that keeps the early flow warm and steady. Depth Perception then introduces the first move into Techno, bringing a raw and hypnotic feel, before True North adds a melodic lift that links naturally back to the deeper mood.

The mix continues with That Mood (Detroit Vision), which carries a classic Deep House touch, and La Mia Vecchia Casa, bringing a more traditional House feeling to the middle of the set. Dub 3720 in the Zombies In Miami remix pushes that House direction further, with a subtle late-night edge that prepares the ground for the return to Techno.

Energy rises in the later part of the show as Translucent leads back into hypnotic Techno terrain, followed by Crossroads, which delivers the most peak-time moment of the session. The End Of Never keeps the focus tight with its raw drive, maintaining the intensity built up across this stretch.

The episode closes with a shift towards Tech House and House once more. Free My Mind in the William Kiss remix offers a punchy but controlled Tech House moment, while Gimme What You Got finishes the journey with a classic House feel. Floating Beats 719 stands as a concise, club-minded session, moving confidently between Deep House, Raw Techno, and late-night House grooves.

Be sure to catch his live radio show on Monday, December 1st, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you can't tune in, a replay will be broadcast on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
