The latest edition of Floating Beats, episode 711, is presented by Portuguese DJ and producer Joshua. Broadcast via Scientific Sound Asia, a platform dedicated to underground electronic music, DJ culture, and live events across Asia, the show continues to highlight forward-thinking artists and global sounds.

Originally from Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been deeply immersed in electronic music since the mid-1990s. His extensive collection of vinyl, cassettes, CDs, and digital recordings reflects decades of dedication to sound and a lifelong connection to underground culture.

Throughout his career, Joshua has explored a wide spectrum of genres, from house and techno to drum and bass and chillout. Even as Portugal’s rave movement slowed in the late 1990s, he remained active, organising grassroots events and collaborating with other DJs and producers to keep the local scene alive.

After taking time away to focus on family life, Joshua returned to the decks with renewed purpose, launching Floating Beats, a podcast and radio show that marked his re-entry into DJing and broadcasting. Since then, the series has grown into a respected showcase for immersive, melodic, and forward-thinking electronic music, earning a loyal international following.

In recent years, Joshua has expanded his creative reach through several production aliases, each representing a distinct aspect of his artistry. As K-Joshua, his Hopeful Mind EP (2024) explored deep, atmospheric themes, while Joshua Fernand’s Logic Move EP delved into raw, hypnotic techno. Under Joshua Marian, Chance With Soul (2025) delivered house-driven grooves with a soulful touch, and as Joshua Onairam, he continues to explore experimental and melodic forms with releases such as Melodic Doubts.

To support this creative evolution, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings in 2024, a label dedicated to releasing both his own productions and innovative work from emerging underground artists. Together with Floating Beats, the label reinforces his vision of authenticity and progression, offering depth, diversity, and a global platform for underground electronic music.

The set begins with Louis The 4th – Balinese Morality and Iglo – Introspection, introducing deep, meditative layers of Techno (Raw / Deep / Hypnotic). Crime Partners – Still Broke and DJ Bone – Critical continue this mood, fusing intricate percussion with subtle Detroit influences.

Midway, Markantonio – Radici and Stipp – Jungle Fever (The Miller Remix) lift the tension, merging hypnotic sequences with pulsating low-end drive. Uncertain – Fade and Obscure Shape – Kobayashi reinforce the set’s gritty aesthetic, pushing the boundaries of raw club energy.

The intensity peaks as Richie Hawtin – Minus Orange Track A1 and Stipp & Alec Dienaar – H-Tool 3 inject momentum through Peak Time Techno, balancing stripped-back minimalism with thunderous energy. Fractious – Twilight Dawn and Rosati – Serotonin deliver tightly woven loops that deepen the hypnotic flow.

Closing with Namhar – Kiss Thy Groove and R.M.K – Keys, Joshua ties together raw texture and subtle warmth. Floating Beats 711 embodies his trademark precision, where driving rhythms meet immersive depth, showcasing the essence of techno, deep techno, and peak-time sound in perfect sync.

Don't forget to catch his live radio show on Monday, October 6th, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you can't make it, a replay will be available on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
