Blaze DJ has revealed the lineup for the upcoming 40th episode of his 'Ministry of Breaks' show on our radio station. Scientific Sound Asia is the leading electronic music station, music new outlet, event organiser, and DJ agency in Asia, dedicated to serving a diverse international audience.
Hailing from Walthamstow in London's East End, U.K., Blaze DJ is a British DJ and producer with strong ties to the underground music culture and the craft of DJing. Throughout his career, he has consistently maintained a close connection with this dynamic scene.
The "10,000 hours rule" proposes that approximately 10,000 hours of focused practice are necessary to achieve mastery in a specific area. However, Blaze DJ considers the 10,000 hours as more of a beginning or a training phase.
Blaze DJ has dedicated numerous hours to honing his craft, achieving a deep and instinctive mastery of turntable techniques, music selection, and audience engagement. Raised in a family surrounded by various musical styles, he acknowledges his parents and siblings as his primary inspirations.
Blaze DJ's musical preferences were shaped by a blend of Jazz, Funk, Disco, New Romantics, and '80s synth-pop. However, it was in 1987, during his school years, that he experienced a turning point upon discovering the cassette tape 'House Sounds of Chicago Volume 1.' This discovery elevated music from a simple hobby to a powerful influence that defined his social connections, career path, and every facet of his life.
Blaze DJ began his career at the age of 15, quickly earning a reputation as a DJ. His initial gigs at a pub in Edmonton were well-received by audiences, leading to regular bookings in Birmingham and Faliraki. His shows at these venues consistently impressed large audiences, occasionally drawing up to 2,000 attendees.
Blaze DJ, with extensive experience gathered over his DJing career, has honed his abilities and gained recognition as a seasoned expert in the industry. As a key figure in the Acid House movement, he feels privileged to have witnessed the development of the UK's electronic music scene from its beginnings to the present.
Even after thirty years in the industry, Blaze DJ still exhibits the same passion and energy in his performances as he did during the iconic parties of the early '90s. His steadfast dedication to house music has remained constant throughout his remarkable career.
Blaze DJ skillfully blends influences from a diverse range of artists across various eras to create his unique and innovative sound. His music seamlessly merges traditional house elements, subtle breaks, hints of acid, and a bit of techno, producing a truly distinctive sound.
Blaze DJ's impact went beyond his performances. He acquired significant insights during his trips to DJ stores and made history by being the first to combine DJing and production equipment in one location in the country.
Moreover, he was instrumental in revolutionising the retail scene for electronic music. However, by 2005, Blaze DJ appeared to lose interest in performing. Although he remained engaged in the music industry as a sound and visual designer, concentrating on improving sound systems in top clubs worldwide, he ultimately withdrew from DJing and put down his headphones.
Following a fifteen-year break, Blaze DJ has returned with fresh enthusiasm and a firm resolve to excel in his performances. Rapidly gaining momentum, he has overcome last year's challenges and secured three monthly radio slots with Ibiza Club News, Underground Kollektiv, and Scientific Sound Asia.
Boasting an extensive collection of breaks and breakbeat tracks, he is poised for a significant comeback in the nightclub scene. With ties to Industrial Force and Zeta Records, his influence has spanned over thirty years, solidifying his reputation as a dedicated member of the global breaks music community.
In recent years, the Ministry of Breaks (MOB) brand has become increasingly popular in London, the UK's capital, due to its distinctive blend of breaks, bass, and bleeps. Concurrently, Blaze DJ has been diligently expanding the brand's presence on multiple platforms.
He recently overhauled both his personal YouTube channel and the MOB YouTube channel, creating a platform to highlight their unique sound and reach a broader audience. Blaze DJ has played a key role in organising Breaks n Bass events, enriching the nightlife scene, and strengthening MOB's position in the London music community.
Blaze is engaged in launching new mixes every week, hosting MOB Open Deck Nights in East London, presenting live performances, and producing new tracks in the studio. He has been active in the studio, releasing some free-to-download bootlegs on his Blaze DJ Soundcloud page, and he has more music scheduled for release in 2025.
Blaze DJ launches episode 40 with Lukas Keyne’s Endless Acid and Paronite’s Science, immediately establishing a heavy Breakbeat atmosphere with strong Acid influences. DJ Brownie and GreenFlamez continue the momentum through Bring It Back, while Feiertag’s Persistence adds deeper electronic textures before Blaze DJ’s own Let’s Do This reinforces the underground club direction. Javy Groove’s Ravediced and CoolTasty’s Badman Sound push the energy further into rave territory, reflecting the old-school influences that run throughout the mix.
The first half develops through BowMax’s ACID-SELECT, Joey Beltram’s legendary Energy Flash and Citriq Lines’ Somewhere, creating a connection between Breakbeat culture and classic Techno foundations. Richard Vission’s Feel It, TheDJBass and GreenFlamez’s 88 and Lee Coombs’ Rhythm 1003 add groove-heavy Electro Breaks influences, while DJ WAVS’ Back In 89 and Mr. Fr0g’s Almax reinforce the warehouse rave atmosphere. Blaze DJ’s remix of Armin van Buuren’s Blah Blah Blah introduces a modern Dance Breaks crossover before Deejay Shaolin and DJ Brownie return the focus to underground Breakbeat rhythms.
The middle section becomes darker and more experimental through HANKOOK’s 303, Burnz Brothers’ Machine and Pointless Animals’ Class 56. Tracks from Vadim Shantor, Trisolidum and Wilde & MarksMan maintain a relentless groove, while BRKN DWN’s Come Again and Lee Coombs’ Rollin bring classic Electro Breaks energy back into the mix. The Darrow Chem Syndicate’s Jig Surge and Too Many Bad Guys’ Crash The Party continue the rave-driven direction before REMENZ & UNREAL’s Barricade VIP introduces a sharper Neuro Breaks edge.
The closing stretch dives deeper into the underground through Deekembeat’s Time With You, Jormek’s Devil Beats and Ivory & Wizard’s Jonny 5. Justin Martin’s Ruff Stuff adds bass-heavy Breakbeat pressure, while DJ Cuto and Adan Roguez’s Smoke This... Too! brings a Glitch Hop twist. Hardcore rave influences emerge through B-Sides’ Magic Orchestra, while JCow and HEDDA’s AIAIAI delivers pure Electro Breaks energy. Dove and Bicep’s CHROMA 003 Bi83 introduces a brief Electronica moment before Firestar Soundsystem, DJ Groove with MC Spyda and Saint Rider, Linero and Blacklight drive the mix toward its conclusion.
Rave Key’s X-Bass closes the episode after further contributions from Gosize, Face & Book and the Freestylers remix of Bring The Vibe. Across the full show, Blaze DJ blends classic Breakbeat culture with Acid Breaks, Electro Breaks, Rave Breaks and modern underground bass music, creating a journey that moves freely between old-school warehouse influences and contemporary club sounds while remaining firmly rooted in Breakbeat culture.
