Bicycle Corporation welcomes guest DJ Murphy Kin, also known as DJ Lucy, for a new edition of their ‘Roots’ show on Scientific Sound Asia. As a hub for underground electronic music across Asia and beyond, the station continues to spotlight both established artists and emerging talent in the global scene.

Bicycle Corporation is the combined project of Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. The duo have released over 50 tracks across a wide spectrum of House and Techno styles, ranging from Deep and Melodic to Tech and French House.

Marco began his career in the early 1990s, working with the Urban People collective and quickly rising through the ranks of Italy’s club circuit. His growing reputation soon led to international bookings, bringing his versatile sound to dancefloors around the world.

Stefano, based in Torino, showed early musical talent and devoted much of his youth to studying classical piano, percussion, and drums. Influenced by composers like Chopin and rhythms from the West African Djembe, his eclectic taste evolved into a passion for DJing, inspired by the underground sounds that rarely made it to mainstream Italian radio.

What started as a dream became reality through perseverance and collaboration. United by their shared love for music, Marco and Stefano founded Bicycle Corporation, a project rooted in both musical discipline and a strong underground ethos.

Today, despite their global recognition, the duo remain connected to their origins. They’ve recently revisited their earlier productions and launched a Bandcamp page to share these formative works, offering listeners a chance to explore the foundation of their creative journey.

Guest DJ Murphy Kin.

This week’s guest DJ is Murphy Kin, also known as DJ Lucy, a selector known for his unrelenting curiosity and cinematic approach to DJing. Having started in the film industry, Lucy brings a director’s vision to the booth. For him, making and playing music is both limitless and boundary-free.

Listening to a DJ Lucy set feels like watching a film. He doesn’t rely solely on steady 4/4 beats or aim for instant euphoria. Instead, he starts slowly, drawing listeners into a journey that might pass through romantic rock, classic throwbacks, flirtatious R&B, and then dives into Disco, Indie, Rock, and Dance.

His pacing and structure are layered with emotion, rising and falling like scenes in a well-crafted movie. With wide-ranging musical tastes and a deep understanding of multiple genres, Lucy moves fluidly between Hip-Hop, Rock, Punk, Indie, and Jazz.

His sets are never static. He builds tension and releases it rhythmically, capturing the crowd’s mood and leading them somewhere unexpected. As the force behind Ting Ting Disco since 2015, DJ Lucy has helped shape vibrant parties across Taipei and Shanghai.

By 2017, the brand expanded to other cities in China and continued touring across Asia. In 2021, Ting Ting Disco moved into online releases, curating tracks from global producers and offering fresh sonic experiences to music lovers.

On stage, Lucy is guided by feeling as much as planning. Sometimes he reacts to the energy around him, and other times he takes full control, crafting moods like a director pulling strings behind the scenes. His performances are unscripted, immersive, and full of surprise.

The episode opens with a blend of funk-infused rarities and genre-defying classics. The Clash’s The Magnificent Seven introduces dub-inflected new wave, followed by the jazz, Latin, and funk fusion of Sunshower by Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band. As the mix deepens, we enter the eclectic house tones of Dawn Again, Cubicolor’s shimmering Magnam, and Curses’ Italo-indebted Gold & Silber with Perel.

Murphy Kin’s guest selection is rich in groove and layered rhythms. Tracks like Desert by Dalai & Davide Ferrario (Breeze & The Sun & Neil Amarey Remix) showcase Afro House, while Flight Of Sagittarius (Yuksek Remix) by Diogo Strausz leans into retro synths and Indie Dance flair. Meanwhile, Disco-rooted selections such as Honey Rider by Daniël Leseman and Sho Nuff by Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee carry nostalgic energy grounded in modern production.

Disco and funk continue with soul-stirring moments from Dexter Wansel & The Jones Girls, Earth, Wind & Fire’s anthemic In The Stone, and I Don’t Want You Back by Ramona Brooks. These tracks seamlessly transition into Latin-infused grooves like Antonia’s La Bamba and El Turronero’s funk-flamenco hybrid Si Yo Volviera a Nacer, adding cultural richness and vibrant textures.

Closing with Fiorious’ empowering anthem I'm Not Defeated (12" Mix), the show blends house rhythm, disco spirit, and soulful undertones. Roots 150 by Bicycle Corporation guest DJ Murphy Kin celebrates musical heritage and discovery, a journey through house, funk, Afro grooves, disco classics, and more. This set captures the essence of the underground while paying homage to timeless club music traditions.
