Bicycle Corporation has announced guest DJ Brendon P for their 'Roots' episode 133. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music station, promoter, and DJ agency serving the region and internationally.

Bicycle Corporation is an Italian duo made up of DJ and producer Marco Mei and the skilled Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together, they have released more than 50 original tracks and numerous remixes in the house music and techno genres.

In the early 1990s, Marco launched his musical career as a DJ and producer, hosting House Music and Techno events across Italy under the collective name 'Urban People'. He also scoured the records stores of his native Turin and sook Afrocentric and electronic releases.

His outstanding talent and distinctive style as a DJ soon captured the interest of both industry professionals and music fans. This acknowledgment resulted in a prestigious residency at the famous nightclub Pacha, a crucial turning point that signified the start of an extraordinary musical journey.

Performing at such a renowned venue not only strengthened his standing in the local community but also paved the way for international opportunities. His residency at Pacha enthralled audiences with electrifying performances, drawing the attention of promoters and event organizers worldwide.

Stefano, a native of Torino, Italy, demonstrated remarkable musical talent early in life. He passionately pursued studies in classical piano, percussion, and drums, particularly drawn to Chopin's classical works and the rhythms of the West African Djembe.

However, the sight of the DJ engaging the crowd grew more intriguing to young Stefano. He wondered if those electronic rhythms, seldom heard on Italian radio in the '90s, might open a new chapter in his life, eventually resulting in the creation of Bicycle Corporation.

Bicycle Corporation's Roots showcase emphasizes their commitment to Afrocentric music styles and their influence on contemporary electronic releases. They feature DJs and producers who are prominent in the Asian electronic music scene and share a passion for these styles.

Guest DJ Brendon P.

DJ Brendon P, whose real name is Brendon Perera, hails from Singapore and favors a low-key, lo-fi style in his work. He has been a disc jockey for more than forty years. Brendon P has an extensive background in Clubs and Music, beginning in 1980 with the Singaporean mobile DJ scene and transitioning to clubs the following year.

A trip to New York in 1984, where he visited clubs like the Funhouse, the Paradise Garage, Dancetaria, and Area, introduced him to the New York club scene and the music that evolved into the house music we know today. Throughout his years as a DJ, both locally and internationally, he developed a deep appreciation and passion for dance music, with his main genres now being House, Techno, Disco, Nu Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge, and Electronica, while crossing vast musical backgrounds.

Having toured clubs in the '80s both locally and internationally with the Juliana's and Bacchus groups, and held residencies with Neo Pharaohs, Venom, and NOX in the '90s, he also enjoyed a 9-year residency at the globally renowned Zouk Club in Singapore. Between July 2001 and May 2009, he had a 2-year residency at Kyo, and for the last five years, he has been part of the resident team at the stylish CE LA VI Rooftop Club & Skybar at Marina Bay Sands. He remains a regular presence in the local and international club scene today.

Brendon has DJ'ed in numerous cities worldwide, such as Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taiwan, Hanoi, and Hong Kong, among others. He also performed at the famous (and now closed) Cielo Club in New York in June 2010. As a producer, Brendon has independently released his original works and remixes on various labels, including In The Woods (USA), Los Grandes (Spain), Reversoulmusic (USA), Audio Parallax (UK), Hotbox Music (USA), Soul Shift (USA), Defected (UK), Rawjak (SG), Eclesia (SG), Issys Groove (UK), Love International (MY), and One With Music (SG).

Due to his strict commitment to music style and sophistication and meticulous attention to detail, it's easy to see why Nicolas Mattar, the owner of New York's 'Cielo' and ‘Output’, refers to him as a 'taste master' and one of the top DJs in the area. You can expect from him a set that crosses vast musical boundaries, spanning past, present, and future.

Brendon P brings a masterful touch to Roots 133, curating an exciting blend of Deep House, Funk, Disco, and Soul. Kicking off with HNNY’s "For the Very First Time" (Dirty Two's Midas Touch Version) and moving through deep grooves from Nephews, BMB Spacekid, and Louie Vega, this mix effortlessly fuses classic vibes with contemporary edits. The rich sounds of Herbie Hancock’s "The Bomb" (Pete Le Freq Refreq) and T-Connection’s "Do What You Wanna Do" (Moplen Rollercoaster Dub) elevate the journey with soulful rhythms and dancefloor energy.

The set also features Brendon P’s signature edit of The Clash’s "The Magnificent Seven", seamlessly integrating New Wave, Funk, and Disco influences. Other standout selections include Double Exposure’s "Ten Percent" (The Re-Flex Revision) and The Isley Brothers’ "Who’s That Lady" (The Re-Flex Re-Vision), bringing a timeless funk essence to the mix. Whether you're into deep and jazzy house vibes, disco-infused grooves, or soulful classics, this episode is a must-listen for fans of underground and classic dance music.
