Marco Mei announces the playlist for the new show on the 6th of February 2021

DJ Marco Mei presents his 2021 episode 6 show on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an English-language electronic music radio station, DJ agency, music news outlet and events promoter covering electronic music across Japan, China, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, Sri Lanka and beyond.

An Italian DJ and producer with more than thirty years in the industry, Marco Mei built his sound around afrobeat, funk and early electronic music long before he stepped behind the decks professionally. His DJ career began in Italy in the early 1990s, expanding outward as his reputation grew across the international club circuit.

Pacha Club in Sharm-El-Sheikh provided an early international platform, and subsequent years brought appearances at venues including Woo Bar, Fuse in Brussels, Room 18 in Taipei, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, SOS Supper Club in Bali and NLO in Minsk. The artist roster he has appeared alongside is broad, from Roger Sanchez and David Morales to Harry Choo Choo Romero, Justin Berkmann and Funk D'Void.

Bicycle Corporation, his production project with Stefano Ugliano, known as 6884, came together in 2009 and was quickly picked up by 17:44 Records. The partnership has since placed releases on Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, GrooveTraxx, Suka and Revox, covering territory from deep and tech house to French house and techno, with backing from names including Dubfire, Axwell, Danny Tenaglia and Above and Beyond.

His Taipei base has been home to Ciao Taipei, a party that became a fixture in the city's underground scene from 2013 and helped grow his network across Southeast Asia. Bookings are handled through the Scientific Sound Asia radio station and DJ agency, while updates are available on Facebook.

Marco Mei's 2021 episode 6 opens with Earl Tutu and John Khan's What A Difference featuring Mike City in the Jerome Sydenham Vocal Remix on Liquid Deep, whose Soulful House warmth establishes the set's opening tone. Seemenot's Borderline in the Roman Flügel Remix on Brainstream Music follows, with the Jamaican-Canadian vocalist's debut single reframed in a Deep House context that suits the programme.

Nitro Deluxe and Norty Cotto's Let's Get Brutal in the Norty Cotto Afro Tech Aim Edit and DJ Seven Chicago's The House That Jack Built bring Jackin House and Chicago House energy before Those Guys From Athens's Who & What turns towards Tech House. Kiko Navarro's Sex & Love Affair on Rocksteady Disco and Ron Disko's Keep Pushing Love in the Digital Disko Mix keep the rhythm buoyant before Blaze Presents Udaufl's Most Precious Love featuring Barbara Tucker in the Sebastian Creeps and Julian White Remix returns to Soulful House.

Illyus and Barrientos with Danny Howard's Feel Ma Boogie on Toolroom moves into Tech House, while Dance System and Mark Broom's Never Ever keeps the central run direct. Brokenears's Let Me Tell on Downtown Underground and Duke's So In Love With You in the Full Intention Remix on TuneCore bring House Music forward.

Husky and Mr. V's We Rave Tonight in the Alaia and Gallo Remix leads into Oscar L's Bass Power on Kenja Records, the programme's Peak Time Techno point. Ben Hemsley's Through 2 You on Ministry of Sound Recordings restores House Music before Lee Foss and Ferreck Dawn's The Void featuring Alex Mills in the Marco Faraone Remix keeps the late-middle section club-focused.

Piem's King Of My Castle on Hot Fuss provides another Tech House anchor, followed by Age Of Love's The Age Of Love in the Franky Rizardo Flow Edit. The 1989 trance classic receives a contemporary progressive treatment, connecting the genre's earliest days with the programme's newer material.

Rhodas's Spectra gives way to Paul Svenson's 1972 on Love Matters, bringing Melodic House and Techno into the closing stretch. Pysh's Foreign Land in the Huntergame Remix on Kognitiv Records sustains that deeper direction before The Housemartins's Change The World in the Dino Lenny Edit closes the episode.

The British indie pop group's 1988 track is recontextualised within Nu-Disco and Disco alongside a House framework. The wide-ranging programme spans more than three decades of dance music history through Soulful House, Deep House, Jackin House, Tech House, House Music and its later melodic and disco-facing turns.
