DJ Marco Mei presents his 13th show of 2019 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Marco Mei is an Italian DJ and producer with more than three decades of experience. He began DJing during the early development of Afrobeat and synthesised music, playing House Music and Techno events in the early 1990s.
Over the course of his career, he has shared the turntables with Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon, Harry “Choo Choo” Romero, Justin Berkmann, Funk D’Void and Sander Kleinenberg. His international profile led to a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm el-Sheikh.
He subsequently toured internationally and played at venues including Woo Bar, Fuse in Brussels, Room 18 in Taipei, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, SOS Supper Club in Bali and NLO in Minsk. In 2009, Marco formed the duo Bicycle Corporation with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884.
With a background in house and techno music, their productions received support from the outset. They signed with the 17:44 record label and released music through Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, GrooveTraxx, Suka and Revox.
Bicycle Corporation has released more than 50 tracks and remixes across Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno. Their work has been played by DJs including Sneak, Mauro Picotto, Dubfire, Axwell, Danny Tenaglia and Above & Beyond.
Based in Taipei, Marco has developed links across the local club community and a wider South East Asian network. His signature party, Ciao Taipei, became a notable local event in 2013 and connected him with artists across the region.
His weekly show spans Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno. He is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency, while his weekly broadcast airs through the radio station.
Marco Mei’s 13th show of 2019, podcast 348 opens with DJ Tennis’s Gordon on Running Back, establishing an Indie Dance tone. HiFi Sean’s Love Is on the House in the 4 AM Dub on Club Sweat and Tiger & Woods’ Machete on Soul Clap then bring in House Music.
Catz N' Dogz follow with the Gerd Janson remix of New Love on Petz, keeping the house-focused opening in place. Gerry Read’s DJ Koze remix of It’ll All Be Over on Pampa shifts the selection towards Deep House, before Floorplan’s So Glad on M-Plant restores a direct house rhythm.
Julien Jabre’s Purple Disco Machine Re-Work of Swimming Places on Glitterbox introduces Electro to the middle stretch. Legowelt’s Tuff City Kids remix of Disco Rout on Cocoon and Marvin & Guy’s Discoteque on Permanent Vacation return the programme to Indie Dance.
Mijangos brings Suena el Sabor from Union Records into an Afro House passage. Mark Blair’s This Is Acid, Man on his own label follows with another House Music cut.
Ellen Allien’s Bowie In Harmony on BPitch moves the late set into Peak Time Techno. Bromance#1’s Gesaffelstein on Bromance supplies an Electro edge before Pete Lazonby’s Adam Beyer, Bart Skils and Layton Giordani remix of Sacred Cycles on Renaissance introduces Trance, and Octave One’s Lies in Truth on 430 West returns to Peak Time Techno.
Raumakustik’s Jamie Jones re-edit of Waves on Defected and Sllash & Doppe’s Circulo on Lapsus Music give the closing run a Tech House focus. Popka’s Sambaya on Chequered Wax brings the set back to House Music for its final confirmed selection.
