Marco Mei releases tracklist for 25 Years in Da House 4 radio show

Marco Mei presented 25 Years in Da House Part 4 for Scientific Sound Asia in 2018. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.

This fourth part was conceived as a retrospective selection tied to Mei’s first 25 years as a DJ and producer. Its 20 tracks drew together music associated with the influences and club experience that informed his work at that point.

Mei began DJing in Turin in 1991, during a period when underground House and Techno culture was gaining ground in Italy. His involvement with the city’s Urban People collective placed him within a local network organising events and supporting electronic music activity.

His sets have drawn on House and Techno while making room for different rhythms and electronic styles encountered through years of club work. That broad approach suited a career that moved from Turin’s scene towards international venues and audiences.

A 2004 residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh marked an important stage in Mei’s international work. The position gave him a sustained setting in which to develop his DJing for a club audience beyond Italy.

Further appearances included G-Star in Thailand and Fuse in Brussels, alongside Woo Bar in Bali, The Mansion in Shanghai and The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City. These bookings placed his selections before audiences across Europe and Asia in distinctly different club settings.

In 2009, Mei formed Bicycle Corporation with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. The collaboration has issued more than fifty productions and remixes spanning Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno through labels including Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, Suka and GrooveTraxx.

DJ Marco Mei presents 25 Years in Da House Part 4 on Scientific Sound Asia, with an archive selection moving through House Music, Disco, Deep House, Indie Dance and Melodic House and Techno. The tracklist features music from Daniel Wang, Class Action, Larry Levan, Aretha Franklin, Chicken Lips, Midland, Peggy Gou, Yotto, Dusky, Patrice Bäumel and HOSH.

Daniel Wang opens with Warped, setting a disco-rooted tone before Class Action’s Weekend appears in the Larry Levan remix. Valerie Dore’s Get Closer in the Gerd Janson edit keeps the early section connected to Disco before Aretha Franklin brings a Soul reference with Jump To It.

Chicken Lips shift the programme towards Indie Dance with He Not In, followed by Black Loops and Innocent Soul on Wanna Feel It. Midland’s Final Credits then moves the set back into House Music, adding a modern club reference to the first half.

Shakedown’s At Night appears in Peggy Gou’s Acid Journey remix, bringing Acid House into the sequence. Emmanuel Jal’s Kuar in the FNX Omar remix adds an Afro House turn, before Emanuel Satie and Billy Cobham return the mix to House Music with Don't Forget To Go Home.

Butch’s Joy keeps the house rhythm in place before B.B.E.’s Seven Days And One Week receives a Yotto remix. Dusky’s The Captain follows with a Progressive House direction, giving the middle of the episode a more melodic club shape.

Patrice Bäumel’s The Hatchet brings the selection into Melodic House and Techno, while The Supermen Lovers’ Rebirth in the Antony Toga Early Morning remix returns to Deep House. The Disco Evangelist’s De Niro in the Agoria remix then keeps the later section in melodic territory.

Cevin Fisher’s Music Saved My Life in the Pete Heller remix and Julie McDermott’s Don't Go in the Ejeca remix bring the closing passage back to House Music. Analog Sol’s Trinidad Dreams and Tone Depth, Fetsum and Johannes Brecht’s Free in the HOSH edit close Part 4 across Deep House and Melodic House and Techno.

Marco Mei is based in Taipei and is part of the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency, with long-standing links across club scenes in Asia and beyond. His weekly programme on the station connects his early club background with a wide selection of house, techno and electronic music references.
