Marco Mei presents his 2020 episode 29 programme on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an English-language Asian electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music-news platform connecting audiences across India, China, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, Sri Lanka and the wider Asian region.
With almost three decades of experience, Marco is an Italian DJ and producer whose interest in Afrocentric music and the emergence of electronic music began during his teenage years. Those influences led him to start DJing in the early 1990s.
In his early years as a disc jockey, Marco developed his craft across Italy before appearing at festivals and clubs around the world. His performances have included appearances alongside Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon and Sander Kleinenberg.
At the beginning of the millennium, he took up a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm-El-Sheikh, which led to international touring. His subsequent appearances included OBS in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, CE' LA VI in Taipei, Shore Club in Hoi An, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, Woobar in Bali and Global Dance Moscow.
In 2009, Marco joined Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884, to form Bicycle Corporation. Their studio work has produced more than 50 tracks and remixes.
Their music has received support within the electronic music community from established artists. Marco is based in Taipei, Taiwan, having moved there at the start of the 2010s, and has played events in the capital city.
His weekly programme spans Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno. As part of a wider South East Asian network, he is available for international bookings through the DJ agency and broadcasts weekly through the radio station.
Marco Mei's July 2020 episode 29 set opens with Angelmoon, Visnadi, Matteo Bruscagin and Danny Losito's Rain on Diynamic, introducing Melodic House and Techno. Róisín Murphy follows with the Cosmodelica remix of Murphy's Law on Skint.
Horse Meat Disco and Kathy Sledge bring Jump Into The Light on Glitterbox Recordings into Nu-Disco territory. Robyn's Floorplan remix of Baby Forgive Me on Konichiwa Records, Smoke City's Mood II Swing Vocal Mix of Mr. Gorgeous (And Miss Curvaceous) on Above Board Projects and Osunlade's Auto Machine on Yoruba Records establish the House Music core.
Loco Dice's Believe in Me on En Couleur supplies a Deep House passage before Zamoras's Throw It Back edit and Mat.Joe featuring Missy Elliott's Cool Off. Daft Punk's Deborah De Luca edit of Technologic on Daft Life Ltd./ADA France then brings a sharper electronic edge.
Big Miz and Liam Doc's Play What You Got on Shall Not Fade leads into Love Regenerator and Steve Lacy's Live Without Your Love on Defected. Copyright featuring Song Williamson's Alaia Gallo Extended Remix of He Is is followed by Jomanda featuring Thommy Davis's Make My Body Rock, released through Rhino Atlantic.
Saison's Cut The Gas on No Fuss Records keeps the late section bright before Mike Mareen's Alkalino Dub Edit of Love Spy. Gianluca Pegoiani's Numero 5 on Rebirth returns to Melodic House and Techno, while Francisco Di Gianni's 1984 on Soulutions Records adds Mainstage energy.
F/Theme's Die Mallemeule on Glory Hill Studio introduces Afro House in the final stretch. Javier Ferreira closes with Cardopusher's remix of Bouncing on Side UP Works, ending the episode with Indie Dance.
