Marco Mei presents his 22 August 2020 radio show on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an English-language electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Hailing from Italy, Marco is a DJ and producer with almost three decades of experience. His musical path began in his early teens, when Afrobeat, Reggae, Funk, Disco, early Hip Hop and emerging electronic music caught his attention.
During the early 1990s, Marco began his career as a disc jockey and developed his craft through performances across Italy. He later played festivals and clubs worldwide, sharing stages with Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon and Sander Kleinenberg.
By the early 2000s, Marco held a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, before extending his work internationally. His appearances included OBS in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, CE' LA VI in Taipei, Shore Club in Hoi An, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, Woobar in Bali and Global Dance Moscow.
In 2009, Marco and his friend Stefano Ugliano (aka 6884) formed the production duo Bicycle Corporation. Their studio work has produced more than 50 tracks and remixes across the House Music scene.
Based in Taipei, Taiwan since 2010, Marco performs at regular events across the city. Before the 2020 lockdown, he toured extensively in Asia and Eastern Europe, and his weekly programme is broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia.
His weekly show ranges through Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno. Marco is available for international bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency for Asia.
Marco Mei’s set from August 22nd opens with Kadosh’s Decompression on Frau Blau, establishing an Indie Dance starting point. GAG follows with Flyin Bolero in the Armonics Remix on Giorgio Records, bringing an Italo Disco touch before Kimshies and SRose appear with the Alan Dixon Love Attack Remix of Sexual Desire on AEON.
Jackmaster Jasper James’s For Ya provides the next selection, followed by Blair French’s Faded By The Sun on Rocksteady Disco. The latter introduces an Afro House passage, while Black Market Dance Club’s Serge Santiago UK Edit of Redface on Arcobaleno Records keeps the rhythm moving.
Danny Howard, Felix Da Housecat and Mr Hs bring Acid Hammer Train on Sola into a Tech House section. Eats Everything’s Torren Foot Remix of Honey on FFRR Records then turns towards House Music.
LF SYSTEM’s Bourgie Bourgie on Roux Records holds the House Music momentum before Marco Faraone and Greeko’s Armaghetton on Defected adds Nu-Disco. Daft Punk’s Guille Placencia Remix of Harder Better Faster Stronger follows, with the Soundcloud version extending the club-focused middle section.
DJOKO’s Archie Hamilton Remix of Overflow on Rawsome Deep keeps the programme in House Music territory. R Hill’s A9E4FF (Everything But The Girl) on ODE and Pryda featuring Julie McKnight’s Muranyi Diamond Life on NA3IF bring two further selections into the sequence.
YormanDjEv’s This Is House on YAUNDE MUSIC precedes Nicolosi Family’s Tiger & Woods House Mix of Call Me Mr. Telephone on Phone Call. Phil Kieran’s Mano Le Tough Remix of Before After Life on Maeve and Hunter/Game’s Geoform on Systematic Recordings move the later section into Melodic House and Techno.
Based in Taipei and working across a wider South East Asian network, Marco is available for bookings through the DJ agency while broadcasting his weekly programme on the radio station. Pink Floyd’s Purple Pill Edit of Shine On Crazy Diamond, Benno Blome and Martin Eyerer’s Mihai Popoviciu Remix of So We Can Fly, and Re.You’s Floyd Lavine Remix of Inyani bring the set to its final melodic close.
