Bicycle Corporation present episode 149 of their Electronic Roots series on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, music news platform, DJ agency and promoter, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is the collaboration between Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and multi-instrumentalist Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together they have developed a catalogue of more than fifty original productions and remixes spanning House, Deep House, Tech House, French House, Techno and more melodic electronic material.
Marco began DJing in Turin during the early 1990s as Italy’s underground club movement was expanding rapidly. Through his involvement with the Urban People collective, he became closely connected with local events, club culture and the wider electronic music community.
That period gave him experience in both DJing and event organisation before his reputation expanded beyond Turin and across Italy. International bookings followed, including a residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh and appearances across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Stefano developed his musical background from an early age through classical piano, percussion and drums. His influences ranged from composers such as Chopin to West African djembe, giving him a broad understanding of melody, rhythm and arrangement before electronic music became his primary focus.
During his teenage years, underground records and DJ culture became increasingly important to him. At a time when many of those sounds were difficult to hear through mainstream Italian radio, production provided a direct way to explore the music that interested him.
When Marco and Stefano joined forces, Bicycle Corporation developed around those complementary backgrounds. Marco brought extensive dancefloor experience and programming knowledge, while Stefano contributed instrumentation, rhythm and studio production.
Their releases have appeared through labels including Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, GrooveTraxx, Suka and Revox. The pair have continued to move between rhythm-led club tracks and more melodic productions without reducing the project to one fixed formula.
Alongside studio work, Bicycle Corporation remain active through radio and live performance. Marco is also represented through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency, while the duo’s programmes continue through the Scientific Sound Asia radio station.
The pair have also revisited selected earlier material through their Bandcamp page. That archive provides another way to follow the development of their work while preserving a connection with productions from earlier stages of the project.
The Electronic Roots series reflects the wider range of records, artists and ideas that have influenced Bicycle Corporation over the years. Rather than following one narrow style, each edition gives the duo space to explore different strands of underground electronic music and the connections between them.
Electronic Roots 149 continues that approach with another programme shaped by Marco and Stefano’s combined experience as DJs, producers and musicians. The episode forms part of a long-running series built around musical discovery, careful selection and the broader influences behind Bicycle Corporation.
Bicycle Corporation open Electronic Roots 149 with Floyd Lavine's remix of Agoria and Rami Khalife featuring NOEMIE, establishing a Deep House foundation before Pablo Say brings in Tech House. Beltran, Rafael, Coexist and Rising Dust deepen the groove with a Deep Tech House turn, while Biesmans restores a straighter House Music pulse.
Boys Noize introduces Electro through the instrumental version of ITVLO, followed by Kölsch's remix of Butch as the session shifts towards Melodic House and Techno. Chini then provides contrasting Indie Dance and Tech House selections before Deetron and Ben Westbeech bring the set back to House with Deep In Your Soul.
Deadisko begins a recurring Indie Dance thread with Sunrise Drive, while Folano's remix of Depeche Mode adds the programme's sole Techno selection. Dirty Channels and Emanuel Satie return to House before Fango's Corsa Di Notte and Gat Decor's Passion alternate between Indie Dance and a classic house foundation.
Hardt Antoine's Raw brings Melodic House and Techno back into focus before Ivory and Johannes Albert with Iron Curtis shift between House and Deep House. Jonathan Kaspar continues the melodic side with Aye, followed by Ricardo Baez's remix of Kasper Bjørke as the set dips once more into Deep House.
Krystal Klear restores the House groove with New Gen Tech Tool before Massimiliano Pagliara, Roman Flügel and Simple Symmetry with Asandisa reinforce the Indie Dance character of the closing stretch. Pole Position with JAW add a broader dance-floor diversion, while Sam Shure's Belinda gives the final section another strong House reference before the alternative version of Inkwenkwezi closes the episode.
Across Electronic Roots 149, House is the strongest individual style, while Indie Dance forms the main secondary thread and Deep House, Melodic House and Techno and Tech House provide repeated changes of texture. Electro, Techno, Deep Tech House and Dance appear more selectively, giving Bicycle Corporation a broad electronic palette without losing the club-focused character running across the programme.
