Velvety Elements returns with a new edition hosted by DJ Joshua on Scientific Sound Asia. The platform operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, while also publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
Based in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has remained closely connected to electronic music culture since the 1990s. His long-standing relationship with vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats reflects decades of dedication to underground sound and DJ culture, shaping an approach grounded in both experience and ongoing musical exploration.
Although his journey has moved through techno, drum and bass and chillout, house music continues to remain central to his artistic identity. His sets focus on groove, soul and emotional depth, maintaining a strong connection between classic house foundations and more contemporary electronic influences.
During quieter periods for Portugal’s underground scene, Joshua remained active through event organisation and collaborations with fellow artists, helping sustain local electronic music culture while reinforcing his role within the community. These experiences continue influencing the thoughtful and carefully structured nature of his DJ sets today.
After stepping away from music to focus on family life, he returned with renewed purpose through his online radio show Floating Beats. The series evolved into a recognised platform for melodic and forward-thinking electronic music, allowing him to further develop a more immersive and narrative-driven approach to DJing.
Velvety Elements later emerged as a complementary project focused on deeper and more soulful interpretations of house music. The show explores warm textures, flowing arrangements and understated groove, reflecting a more introspective and refined side of his musical direction while remaining rooted in underground house culture.
Working across aliases including K Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand and Joshua Onairam, he continues exploring multiple creative paths. Each alias highlights a different aspect of his sound, ranging from groove-led deep house and melodic club music to hypnotic techno and cinematic electronic compositions.
Recent releases under the Joshua Marian alias continue reinforcing his connection to Deep House. Tracks such as Just Love, Express Your Voice, Ring For More and Go Slow combine rolling grooves with restrained melodic phrasing and balanced rhythmic structure. Releases through labels including Yesenia, Jazz In Da House, Agua Salada Records and Wanda reflect a clear focus on atmosphere, subtle progression and musical depth.
In contrast, his K-Joshua productions move further into darker and more experimental territory. Projects such as Promised Work on Kopoc and Stranger Things on dublucid explore Raw / Deep / Hypnotic Techno and dub-influenced sound design through repetition, texture and immersive atmosphere. Releases including Slow Laziness and Walk Slow also extend into Minimal / Deep Tech and Ambient territory, highlighting the wider scope of his studio work.
In 2024, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings as a platform for his own productions while also supporting underground artists and collaborative projects. The label continues developing as an independent outlet centred on creative freedom, underground values and long-term artistic growth within electronic music culture.
Through Velvety Elements, DJ Joshua brings these influences together into a cohesive and carefully structured journey. Each episode reflects a balance between deep house warmth, underground groove and broader electronic experimentation, maintaining a clear emphasis on flow, atmosphere and emotional connection.
In Velvety Elements, DJ Joshua weaves these influences into a unified listening experience. Every episode evolves as a meticulously crafted journey, blending deep house roots with expansive electronic exploration, all while focusing on groove, atmosphere, and emotional resonance.
Velvety Elements 315 by DJ Joshua opens with Stablematic's Cryogenic, immediately setting a warm Deep House atmosphere before Black Eyes continues the groove through Hydro Grove Boulevard Street. FTU’s Alma's Groove maintains the flowing late-night direction with smooth percussion and jazzy underground textures.
Mo'Cream’s I Think It’s Ok in the Oscar P rework shifts the mix toward a fuller House Music groove, while Byron The Aquarius adds soulful rhythmic depth through The Last Mile Of The Way. Borrowed Identity then restores the deeper atmosphere with Life’s Running, balancing stripped-back percussion with melodic warmth.
DJ Sneak introduces classic Jackin House energy through Betta House, bringing tougher Chicago-inspired rhythms into the mix before DJ Honesty’s Wired returns the focus to rolling Deep House grooves. DJ Grant’s Night At The Apollo continues the House-driven direction with smooth club-focused flow.
The final section develops through N.Y. Housen Authority’s Window Guards in the DJ Steaw Autumn Reshape and Jazir’s Keep Going, both rooted firmly in underground Deep House traditions. Vincent Caira closes the episode with Ground Rules, ending the session with another Jackin House groove that reinforces the warm and soulful club atmosphere running throughout Velvety Elements 315.
Tune in to his live radio show on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, between 6 and 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you can't catch it, the replay will be available on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
