Floating Beats returns with episode 735, presented by DJ Joshua, on Scientific Sound Asia. The platform operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, while also publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.

Born in Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been immersed in electronic music culture since the mid 1990s. His long-standing connection to vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats reflects decades of dedication to underground sound and DJ culture.

Throughout his career, he has explored house, techno, drum and bass and chillout. Even during quieter periods for Portugal’s rave scene, he remained active at a grassroots level, supporting the underground community with events.

After stepping away from music to focus on family life, he returned with renewed direction through Floating Beats. The series quickly reestablished his international presence and developed into a platform for deeper and progressive electronic sounds.

His studio work spans multiple aliases, each representing a different creative direction. As K Joshua, Joshua Fernand, Joshua Marian and Joshua Onairam, he explores styles ranging from deep house and techno to melodic and cinematic compositions.

Recent releases continue this evolution, including the 2025 Joshua Onairam track Shiny Night. The production highlights a focus on narrative flow, combining progressive structure with melodic detail and atmosphere.

In 2024, he founded JFLM Recordings as a platform for his own releases and to support underground artists. Together, the label and Floating Beats reflect a long-term commitment to electronic music culture and carefully curated programming.

Floating Beats 735 by DJ Joshua opens with Opunquè and Dedub in the Blome and Tigerskin remix, setting a deep and atmospheric tone rooted in early 2010s Deep House. Magnum continues with a Minimal / Deep Tech approach, while Cyberian Snowstorm introduces a shift towards a more driving techno direction.

The mix develops through For The People in the DVS1 remix and Amongst The Olive Trees in the Conforce mix, both reinforcing a deep and hypnotic techno foundation. These tracks highlight the stripped-back, groove-focused sound that defined underground techno during this period.

Energy builds with Ghostwood, adding a Tech House groove before Glad Chord in the Psycatron remix pushes into peak time techno territory. Stoli in the Tiger Stripes remix continues with a more direct and driving approach, maintaining strong momentum through the middle of the set.

The closing section moves into The Passion Of Zorro, bringing melodic elements into the mix while maintaining a techno framework. This throwback session captures the essence of 2011 underground club sounds, blending Deep House, Techno and minimal influences into a cohesive and timeless mix.
