Floating Beats returns with episode 730, presented by DJ Joshua. Broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, the series continues to champion underground electronic music, DJ culture and live events across Asia, connecting globally rooted sounds with an international audience through carefully curated radio programming.

Born in Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been immersed in electronic music culture since the mid-1990s. His long-standing relationship with vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats reflects decades of dedication to underground sound and club culture. From early crate digging to extensive time behind the decks, his musical perspective has consistently been guided by curiosity, depth and a wide appreciation of electronic music.

Throughout his career, he has explored a broad spectrum of styles including House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout. During quieter periods for Portugal’s rave movement, he remained active at a grassroots level, collaborating with fellow DJs and producers to help sustain the underground scene and maintain creative momentum when wider support was limited.

After stepping away from music to focus on family life, Joshua returned with renewed direction through Floating Beats, a radio and podcast series that quickly re-established his international presence. Over time, the show evolved into a respected platform for melodic, progressive and deeper electronic sounds, reflecting his ongoing development as a selector while attracting a loyal global listenership.

In recent years, Joshua has expanded his artistic output through multiple aliases, each representing a distinct sonic focus. As K-Joshua, the Hopeful Mind EP explored emotive Deep House. Under the Joshua Fernand name, the Logic Move EP shifted toward hypnotic and raw Techno. His Joshua Marian project delivered groove-led soulful House with Chance With Soul, while Joshua Onairam centres on cinematic and melodic textures, as heard on Melodic Doubts.

More recent productions show a clear refinement of this direction. Shiny Night, released in 2025 under the Joshua Onairam alias, blends progressive melody with emotional flow, highlighting an increased focus on atmosphere, narrative and musical detail. These releases build naturally on the foundations of Hopeful Mind and Logic Move, reinforcing a coherent evolution across his Deep House and Techno work.

In 2024 Joshua launched JFLM Recordings, a label created to release his own music while collaborating with underground artists who share a commitment to authenticity and depth. Together, Floating Beats and JFLM Recordings reflect a long-term dedication to meaningful electronic music, offering listeners an ongoing and carefully shaped creative journey rooted firmly in underground culture.

The set opens firmly on rhythmic ground with Ventricle before easing into a lighter groove through Pisco Sour and Shaker Hood, giving the mix an early balance between percussive techno and house movement. The atmosphere tightens quickly as Still Broke and Circum Navigate introduce deeper hypnotic patterns.

Energy rises through his track Tearing Metal and continues with 1979 and Kobayashi, where rolling low-end textures define the centre of the first half. Tracks like Yuna and Infinite Bunker keep the tension steady while maintaining clarity in the arrangement.

The second half leans further into immersive territory as Ruff Cut and Twilight Dawn emphasise repetition and subtle modulation. His new track Breaking Rocks closes the sequence with a direct peak-time approach, keeping the momentum consistent without breaking the hypnotic flow.

Overall, the episode moves from groove-led openings into sustained driving techno, combining structured peak-time techno material with deeper hypnotic techno selections in a continuous progression. A must listen for fans of Raw and Peak Time Techno.

Catch his live radio show on Monday, February 16th, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). Missed it? No problem, tune in to the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
