DJ Joshua publishes his track list for Floating Beats 721.

The latest edition of Floating Beats, episode 721, is presented by Portuguese DJ and producer Joshua. Broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, a platform dedicated to underground electronic music, DJ culture and live events across Asia, the series continues to spotlight forward-thinking artists and globally rooted sounds.

Born in Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been immersed in electronic music since the mid-1990s. His extensive archive of vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital releases reflects decades of dedication to sound and a deep connection to underground culture. From early crate-digging to long hours behind the decks, his approach has always been shaped by curiosity and musical breadth.

Across his career, Joshua has explored a wide spectrum of styles including house, techno, drum and bass and chillout. During quieter periods for Portugal’s rave movement, he supported the underground through grassroots events and close collaboration with fellow DJs and producers, helping sustain creative energy when the local scene needed it most.

After stepping away to focus on family life, Joshua returned with renewed focus through Floating Beats, a radio and podcast series that quickly re-established his international presence. The show has since become a respected platform for melodic, progressive and deeper electronic sounds, drawing listeners from across the world and reflecting his evolving musical vision.

In recent years, Joshua has expanded his artistic identity through several aliases, each representing a distinct direction. As K-Joshua, the 2024 Hopeful Mind EP explored emotive deep house. Under Joshua Fernand, the Logic Move EP moved into hypnotic and raw techno territory. His Joshua Marian project delivered soulful, groove-led house with the 2025 release Chance With Soul, while Joshua Onairam continues to focus on cinematic and melodic textures through works such as Melodic Doubts.

His most recent productions show a confident evolution in style. Shiny Night, released in 2025 under the Joshua Onairam alias, blends progressive melody with emotional flow, reinforcing his growing interest in atmosphere and narrative. These releases build naturally on the foundations laid by Hopeful Mind and Logic Move, marking a continued refinement of his deep house and techno sound.

In 2024, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings, a label created to release his own music while collaborating with underground artists who share his commitment to authenticity, depth and expression. Together, Floating Beats and JFLM Recordings reflect his long-standing dedication to meaningful electronic music, offering listeners an ongoing and carefully curated creative journey.

The opening stretch sets a deep and uncompromising tone, with Mind Design and Cognitive Dissonance locking into raw, hypnotic territory straight away. Tracks like The Mess and Horror Vacui reinforce that stripped-back, inward-looking approach, favouring pressure and texture over obvious hooks.

As the mix unfolds, Modern Ate, Covenant and More Element 25 maintain a heavy, heads-down momentum, while Darker Echoes and Take As Gospel push further into shadowy, late-night techno. These selections sit firmly in the raw and deep spectrum, built for long blends and immersive club settings.

The energy lifts through Weather Down, Machine Soul and AC Operation, where peak time drive comes to the forefront. These tracks introduce sharper rhythms and more direct impact without breaking the hypnotic flow, giving the mix a sense of controlled escalation rather than abrupt shifts.

In the final run, Windy Storm and La Loma bring the journey back into deeper territory, closing with sustained tension and a sense of unresolved motion. Overall, the mix delivers a tightly focused techno statement, balancing raw, hypnotic depth with just enough peak time pressure to keep the intensity locked throughout.
