Blaze DJ has revealed the playlist for his upcoming broadcast, titled 'Ministry of Breaks' episode 33, on our radio station. Scientific Sound Asia stands as the premier electronic music station, promoter and DJ agency in Asia, dedicated to serving a diverse global audience.
Blaze DJ, originating from Walthamstow in the East End of London, U.K., is a British DJ and producer deeply connected to underground music culture and the art of DJing. Throughout his career, he has maintained strong ties to this vibrant scene.
Based on the principle known as the "10,000 hours rule," it is believed that around 10,000 hours of deliberate practice is required to reach a level of expertise and proficiency in a particular field. However, for Blaze DJ, the notion of 10,000 hours merely served as an initial learning period or apprenticeship.
Blaze DJ has dedicated countless hours to his craft, resulting in a profound and intuitive understanding of the turntables, the music he selects, and the audience he entertains. Growing up in a household immersed in a diverse range of musical tastes and genres, Blaze DJ credits his parents and siblings as his earliest sources of inspiration.
Blaze DJ's musical inclinations were influenced by a blend of Jazz, Funk, Disco, New Romantics, and 80s synth-pop. Nonetheless, it was the discovery of the cassette tape House Sounds of Chicago Volume 1 in 1987, during his school days, that marked a pivotal moment for him. From then on, music transcended being a mere pastime; it emerged as a defining force shaping his nights out, his career trajectory, and every aspect of his life.
Commencing his DJing journey at the tender age of 15, Blaze DJ rapidly garnered recognition as a highly sought-after talent. His career kicked off by captivating audiences at a neighbourhood pub in Edmonton, and soon, he secured residencies in Birmingham and Faliraki. There, he regularly showcased his skills to sizable crowds, sometimes reaching up to 2,000 attendees.
Blaze DJ's journey in DJing has encompassed a wide array of experiences, shaping him into a seasoned professional in the field. As a genuine representative of the Acid House generation, Blaze DJ considers himself fortunate to have observed the evolution of the UK's electronic music scene from its nascent stages to the contemporary era.
Despite three decades in the industry, Blaze DJ sustains the same level of enthusiasm and energy in his performances, reminiscent of his early appearances at legendary parties in the early 1990s. His enduring passion for house music has remained steadfast throughout his illustrious career.
Inspired by a diverse spectrum of artists from various eras, Blaze DJ adeptly weaves their influences into his own distinct and original sound. His style seamlessly melds elements of classic house, subtle breaks, a hint of acid, and a sprinkle of techno, resulting in a unique tapestry of musical expression.
Blaze DJ's influence transcended his performances as a DJ. He garnered valuable experience by working in DJ stores and achieved a milestone by pioneering the integration of DJing and production equipment into a single establishment in the country.
In addition, he played a pivotal role in completely transforming the retail experience for the electronic music community. By 2005, Blaze DJ seemed to have lost his passion for performing. Despite continuing to work in the music industry as an audio-visual designer and consultant, focusing on enhancing sound systems in renowned clubs worldwide, he ultimately decided to retire from his DJing career and set aside his headphones.
After a hiatus of fifteen years, Blaze DJ made a comeback with renewed passion and a steadfast determination to excel in his performances. Waste no time, he quickly gained momentum. Despite the challenges faced in the past year, he has already secured three monthly radio slots with Ibiza Club News, Underground Kollektiv, and Scientific Sound Asia.
Bolstered by a comprehensive repertoire of breaks and breakbeat music, and currently affiliated with Industrial Force and Zeta Records, he is primed to make a noteworthy resurgence onto the nightclub circuit. With a career spanning over three decades, he commands a prominent position as one of the most committed DJs within the global breaks community.
The Ministry of Breaks (MOB) brand has experienced a steady rise in popularity over the past few years, gaining recognition in London, the capital of the UK, for its unique fusion of breaks, bass, and bleeps. In parallel, Blaze DJ has been actively engaged in furthering the brand's reach through various channels.
Notably, he has relaunched his personal YouTube channel, alongside the MOB YouTube channel, providing a platform to showcase their distinctive sound and connect with a wider audience. Additionally, Blaze DJ has been instrumental in organising Breaks n Bass parties, contributing to the vibrant nightlife scene and solidifying MOB's presence within the London music community.
Blaze DJ has a packed month coming up! Dope Shit Only in Digbeth, Birmingham, The Heathcote & Star on the first Friday of the month, after the sell-out Breakin Bass event this month, Blaze has invited O.P. Groover to join him with a special guest mix.

Guest DJ O.P Groover.
O.P.Groover is a London-based DJ, VFX artist, and member of the DJ collective B Beats. With a diverse taste in bass music and a fervent passion for dancing, she has established herself as a prominent figure in the music scene.
While breakbeat remains her first love, O.P.Groover is celebrated for her ability to blend uplifting beats and pulsating basslines seamlessly. Her multi-genre sets take listeners on a journey through a range of bass-heavy sounds, including tech house, breaks, and techno.
Having earned the moniker "OllyPollyGroover" from friends due to her infectious dancefloor energy, O.P.Groover has been honing her craft for two decades. Her musical journey traces back to the sound systems of 90s rave culture and the iconic Eargasm breakbeat nights at Fabric during the 2000s.
Over the years, she has graced the stages of renowned festivals and venues, including Boomtown Fair, Meadowlands Festival, and Glastonbury Festival bars and Hive Stage. Additionally, O.P.Groover has left her mark on the music scenes of Bristol, Peckham, London, and Sheffield, with notable performances at venues such as Rye Wax, Elektrowerks, and Brixton Courtyard. Notably, she has shared the stage with esteemed artists such as Dusky, PlumpDJs, and KraftyKuts.
Blaze DJ opens the session with a smooth run of Breaks that establishes the groove immediately. The warm textures of Snappiness sit neatly beside the deeper movement of Without Warning, before Given My Everything pushes the energy into sharper NuSkool territory. Melodic flow follows through From the Jaws of Victory, and moments later, the tempo rises through vocal-driven rhythms like Tell It to My Heart and the heavy bass pressure of Big Bass. The set begins to hint at nostalgia with Ready For This and the UK-leaning feel of Your Eyes, followed by the emotional pull of Glue and a garage twist in Disconnect.
As Blaze DJ moves deeper, the atmosphere turns more rave-focused with Love Decade and the uplifting brightness of Sweet Feeling. The darker edge of When I’m Told To contrasts beautifully with the bouncier attitude of Wonder, creating a clever push and pull in rhythm and tone. UK Garage flavours resurface in Promised Land and Mantra, while Liberation offers a classic NuSkool feel. The first hour closes in cinematic style with Heartbreak and Circle of Light, both carrying the emotional intensity that characterises Blaze DJ’s approach to modern Breaks.
Guest DJ O.P Groover opens the second hour with hard-hitting NuSkool selections like 1 L2D2 and Confusion. A relentless momentum builds through Standout and Too Far Gone, while The Boat and Gotta Keep Movin’ add a rave-leaning twist. The groove stays fierce through The Rhythm, Fuck That and No More White Noises, each track bringing its own variation of grit and energy. Atmospheric tones appear in With U, and the cosmic flair of Cosmic Fury creates a welcome shift before diving back into heavier rave moments with Flash Lights and AI.
The final stretch features a run of NuSkool Breaks and UK Bass that keeps the pressure high, from the muscular remix of The Challenge to the hypnotic textures in Magic Carpet. Dub-leaning moments appear in Bumpin’, while The Reasoning nods towards jungle-influenced Breaks. The episode closes with Real One, London, and Light It Up, each track celebrating a different facet of underground Breaks culture. Ministry of Breaks 25 showcases Blaze DJ’s mastery of rhythm and O.P Groover’s signature drive, delivering a complete journey through Breakbeat energy on Scientific Sound Asia.
