Bicycle Corporation has announced its playlist for their 'Roots' episode 143. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music station, DJ agency, and promoter serving the region and globally.

Bicycle Corporation is an Italian pairing of the DJ and producer Marco Mei and the talented Stefano Ugliano, who also goes by the moniker 6884. At the beginning of the nineties, Marco was starting his musical journey as a disc jockey and producer.

He began doing his own events as a collective known as Urban People across the length and breadth of Italy. This gained him admiration then after a while, he was offered a residency at Pacha, Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.

After highlighting his skills at Pacha and gaining more recognition, he started getting DJ bookings at venues across the globe. Thus launching him on a musical journey around the planet to perform on the wheels of steel with renowned stalwarts of the electronic music industry.

Stefano, hailing from Torino, Italy, showed promise as a budding musician right from childhood. He showed a keen interest in the musical arts that soon began to engulf most of his spare time. He studied classical piano, percussion and drums and greatly appreciated Chopin's compositions and the sound of West African Djembe.

As he grew, the disc jockey, rearing the crowd with electronic beats, proved more alluring to the teenage Stefano. His passion for electronic music, which was impossible to find on stations in Italy in the nineties, overcame him and led to the evolution of his production abilities, and then he met Marco and the Bicycle Corporation was formed. Just recently, their earlier tracks have gone out of contract with the original labels, so they have set up a Bandcamp page to distribute them.

Roots Episode 143 embarks on a global musical voyage, commencing with A. Mislayene's "El Fen," is a rare gem blending Algerian folk with disco rhythms. The journey continues with Carte De Séjour's "Ouadou," infusing folk rock elements, and Dolores Vargas's flamenco-infused "A-Chi-Li-Pú," adding Spanish flair.

The set transitions into funk territory with Gilberto Gil's "Manamauè," featuring El Perro Rojo, delivering Latin funk vibes. James Brown's "I Got Ants In My Pants" and The JB's "Gimme Some More" showcase classic funk grooves, energising the mix with their timeless rhythms.

Exploring electronic reggae, Monyaka's "Go Deh Yaka" (Dr Packer Remix) and Muzungu's "Congas" (Dr Packer Extended Remix) blend reggae roots with electronic beats. The journey then delves into classic house with Freestyle Orchestra's "Odyssey" and Joe Montana's "The Classic Pt 1," setting a deep, danceable mood.

The mix further enriches with Johnny Hammond's "Los Conquistadores Chocolates" (Moplen Dizco Delight Part 2), offering a nu-disco twist, and Joni Haastrup's "Free My People" (Aguava Edit), presenting Afro-funk rhythms. Loose Joints' "Is It All Over My Face" (Kon's Duet Mix) adds a soulful touch, while Blair French's "Pagode Americano" introduces batucada beats.

Diving into psychedelic dub, African Head Charge's "Stebeni's Theme" offers experimental sounds. The Afrobeat influence intensifies with Rotate 38 featuring Fela Kuti on "Zommbie" and "Suffering and Smiling," followed by THEMBA's "Zombie" (Herd Mix), blending Afro House elements.

The episode concludes with Thomas Mapfumo's "Shumba," showcasing African folk traditions, Martin Circus's "Disco Circus," and Asphalt Jungle's "Freakin Time Pt.1&2," delivering funk and disco boogie vibes.
