Bicycle Corporation has announced Malaysian DJ and producer Hadiid as the guest artist for episode 158 of their Roots show. Scientific Sound Asia is an established Asian electronic music station, promoter, and DJ agency, serving audiences across the region and worldwide.

Bicycle Corporation is the Italian duo of DJ and producer Marco Mei and classically trained musician Stefano Ugliano, also known by his alias 6884. Marco began his musical journey in the early nineties, building his reputation as both a DJ and event organiser. He co-founded the collective Urban People, which hosted events throughout Italy and helped shape the country’s underground scene.

His growing success led to a residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, where his dynamic sets earned international attention. From there, Marco’s career expanded globally, performing alongside leading names in the electronic music industry and bringing his signature sound to venues across Asia, Europe, and beyond.

Stefano, hailing from Torino, Italy, displayed a strong passion for music from a young age. He studied classical piano, percussion, and drums, drawing inspiration from Chopin and the rhythmic traditions of West African djembe. As he matured, his fascination with electronic music deepened, a sound then rare on Italian radio, and he began experimenting with production and DJing.

When Stefano met Marco, their shared vision led to the creation of Bicycle Corporation, a project that merges musicality with innovation. Their releases have spanned a wide range of House and Techno subgenres, and their ongoing Roots series reflects their commitment to exploring the connections between global and underground sounds.

Recently, many of their earlier tracks have come out of contract with their original labels, prompting the duo to launch a Bandcamp page to make these releases available once again. Through Roots, they continue to celebrate their influences while spotlighting rising talent from across the Asian electronic music scene.

Guest DJ Hadiid.

This week’s guest is Hadiid, an Asian-born and bred DJ and producer from the island of Borneo, known for his refined yet adventurous approach to electronic music. His sets are driven by a diverse selection of sounds that blend deep grooves, melodic structure, and rhythmic energy, pushing boundaries wherever he performs.

Throughout his DJ career, Hadiid has played extensively across Asia, with appearances in Koh Phangan, Manila, Jakarta, Bali, and Kuala Lumpur. These performances have seen him share stages with both regional talents and international names such as Hugo Mendez (Sofrito) and Mathias Schober (Lossless). His ability to connect different audiences through fluid, genre-crossing selections has earned him a solid reputation in the Asian underground circuit.

As part of the NWHR collective, Hadiid continues to strengthen his hometown scene by organising pop-up parties and intimate gatherings around Kuching City. The collective’s goal is to build diversity in the local music landscape, offering platforms for like-minded artists to perform while introducing audiences to alternative music cultures beyond the mainstream.

On the production front, Hadiid’s recent releases have drawn attention from respected underground imprints. His music has been featured on TAU (the label founded by Adana Twins), Polyptych, Black Beard, Vertigo Audio, Uxoa Dutxa Elite, Eclipse Recordings, Kaleydo Records, Asia Music, Pizza Tunait, Dear Deer Records, Leftright Sounds, Bullfinch Records, Lossless, and Deepsomnia.

Recent highlights include his melodic techno-driven EPs Arrival and Solitude, along with appearances on international compilations showcasing his progressive and deep house influences.

Hadiid’s work continues to reflect his evolution as an artist, blending hypnotic grooves with emotive sound design while representing Asia’s growing contribution to global electronic music. Whether behind the decks or in the studio, he remains committed to pushing creativity and connection through sound.

Episode 158 of Roots by Hadiid opens with Homero Espinosa – Set Me Free (Acapella), setting a deep tone before Gino Strike & Earl W. Green – Missin’ You and Cool Million, D-Train & Opolopo – Stronger elevate the mood with soulful House energy. The early selections nod to vocal-driven grooves and uplifting instrumentals, keeping true to the show’s roots in feel-good club music.

Midway through the mix, Hadiid keeps the rhythm steady with House and Dance influences from Distant People & Carla Prather – Have No Fear (Ezel Mix) and Sean McCabe & Lem Springsteen – Connection. Louie Vega and Joe Claussell’s remix of Incognito – Wake Me adds depth, while Disco Incorporated – Barry (Black Soul Music Mix) shifts the tempo toward Nu Disco territory.

As the flow continues, Steal Vybe – It Seems To Hang On and Darren Studholme – Move Your Body inject a Soulful House warmth, contrasted by Alan Dixon – Rise & Shine and Olivia Andela – I Like That (Remix), both balancing funk-laced basslines with modern production. The vibe remains positive and classy throughout, showcasing Hadiid’s ear for timeless rhythm and groove.

The closing stretch celebrates Nu Disco and Disco edits, including Dubplate Disco & Yam Who? – Pick Up and C. Da Afro – State Of Boogie. Finishing with Debbie Jacobs – Don’t You Want My Love (Full Intention Extended Disco Mix), Hadiid brings his signature fusion of contemporary and classic sounds to another well-crafted episode of Roots.
