Bicycle Corporation has announced guest DJ Marcy for an upcoming edition of their Foundations show. Broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, the series continues to showcase underground electronic music while connecting artists and audiences across Asia and internationally.

Bicycle Corporation is the Italian collaboration between DJ and producer Marco Mei and musician Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Marco began his musical journey in the early 1990s, developing his skills as a DJ and producer at a time when Italy’s underground scene was gaining momentum.

He went on to organise his own club nights under the Urban People banner, hosting events across Italy that helped establish his reputation within the electronic music community. This growing recognition led to a residency at Pacha, which proved to be a turning point in his career, opening the door to international bookings and setting him on a global path as a touring DJ.

Stefano, raised in Torino, showed strong musical ability from an early age. His formative years were shaped by classical piano studies, percussion and drums, alongside a deep appreciation for Chopin’s compositions and the rhythmic traditions of West African djembe. This diverse musical foundation would later influence his approach to electronic music production.

Despite his classical background, it was the figure of the DJ commanding the dancefloor that truly captured Stefano’s imagination. At a time when electronic music was rarely heard on Italian radio, the power and energy of club culture drew him toward experimentation with electronic beats. His meeting with Marco brought together two complementary musical paths, leading to the formation of Bicycle Corporation.

The Foundations show reflects this shared ethos, inviting DJs and producers from across Asia to present selections rooted in taste, depth and underground culture. Bicycle Corporation remain active both as artists and curators, and is available for booking through Scientific Sound Asia’s DJ agency.

This week’s guest DJ is Marcy, a highly respected selector from Okinawa, Japan, now celebrating over 25 years behind the decks. A familiar presence on the local circuit, Marcy continues to pursue his passion most weekends, performing at trusted venues and underground spots where musical depth and atmosphere take priority.

His journey began in his teenage years after acquiring his first set of turntables and learning the craft in his bedroom. Driven by curiosity and a desire to broaden his creative outlook, he later moved to New York, where exposure to diverse club cultures and musical influences helped shape his evolving sound and approach to DJing.

After returning from the United States, Marcy’s career gained momentum in Tokyo, where he became active within the capital’s club scene before expanding his reach across Asia. His travels led him to perform at a range of respected venues throughout the region, further refining his versatility and understanding of different dancefloor environments.

A formative chapter followed with time spent in Ibiza, where he experienced the island’s unique blend of club culture, musical freedom and hedonistic spirit. Returning to Okinawa with this broader perspective, Marcy continued to develop his style while sharing the booth with influential artists such as Gerald Mitchell, Frank Muller, Hiroshi Watanabe a.k.a. Kaito, Paul Murphy and Phil Mison.

Marcy’s DJ sets are defined by fluid movement across genres, blending House, Nu Disco, Minimal and Techno into cohesive, groove-driven journeys that respond naturally to the dancefloor. He currently holds a residency at bar b.p.m. in Okinawa and is now looking outward once again, ready to bring his sound to new cities, venues and audiences beyond his home base.

The Foundations episode with DJ Marcy opens in a stripped-back, introspective mood as It Wasn’t Blues and Sig Dig establish a Minimal and Deep Tech framework rooted in subtle groove and controlled tension. These early selections allow rhythm and texture to develop patiently, setting the tone for a deeply immersive listen.

As the mix unfolds, dub-influenced tracks like Function and Haze expand the soundstage with spacious chords and echoing atmospheres. This section blends seamlessly into hypnotic Techno, where Phantom Studies and Mentem introduce darker, more focused energy without abandoning the set’s meditative flow.

Midway through, DJ Marcy introduces contrast through Indie Dance selections such as Tataki and Cycle, loosening the rhythm and adding melodic movement. The inclusion of Descending briefly shifts the pulse towards UK Funky and bass-led club energy, creating a moment of rhythmic lift before the mix tightens again.

The closing stretch balances intensity and release as Insane injects peak-time drive, followed by deeper, reflective cuts like Get Loca and Hiding Hearts. The episode concludes with a sense of cohesion and restraint, highlighting DJ Marcy’s ability to guide listeners through minimal, techno and indie-influenced terrain with precision and control.
