Anonymous Z presents Not So Anonymous 24 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Anonymous Z is known in Saigon, Vietnam, as the founder of Mad Circus Epic parties. An organiser of mayhem to the core, he also founded Bahrain's first underground DJ community, Glassroom.
Leading a group of misfits from varied backgrounds, he organised parties and after-parties, legal or otherwise, that local nightlife remembers as legendary. His motto then was "They tried to bury us, but they forgot we were seeds".
After joining the Banana Hustle crew in its punchy tropical frenzy, he helped develop its distinctive vibe. Originally a Techno head, he developed a taste for digging out unusual Afro, House, Disco and Funk records.
He complements these selections with hand-picked Techno and more recent Indie Dance. His skills as a selector opened doors to underground venues including Arcan, The Lighthouse, Broma and Vitamin D after-parties.
His non-linear sets are often improvised and shaped by the dance floor, combining tense, grooving bass lines with melodic storytelling that plays with emotion. He explores world music and early electro, moving between trippy, dark downtempo sets with tribal and South American influences and darker, groove-led leftfield electro.
Anonymous Z's Not So Anonymous 24 episode opens with Mang Dynasty's After Dark (Dub) on Late Night Tales and Tulioxi's To End Up In Dark Mali (Local Suicide & Circle Scope Remix) on Heimlich Musik, establishing a dark Indie Dance direction. Marie Davidson's So Right (John Talabot Pressure Dub Remix), released through Ninja Tune, brings in a pressure-heavy Electronica edge.
The Organism's Serotonin on TAU returns to the programme's shadowy club focus before Tony y Not's Last Night (Armonica Remix) on Trampoliner tightens the electronic atmosphere. The early selections hold to the dark, dancefloor-minded approach described in Anonymous Z's biography.
Auxiliary Tha Masterfader's Dark Side of The Disco on Rimoshee Traxx gives way to Darlyn Vlys and Alice de St Victor's Impact on Roam Recordings. Illusory Damages' You Were Wrong (Kolomensky Remix) on Nein Records and Damon Jee, Alvaro Cabana and Holographic Planes' Solaris on Critical Monday sustain the tense late-night character.
soSoso's Driver Test on Soleid introduces Melodic House and Techno, adding a more expansive melodic line to the set. Micropacer's Countdown to Disappointment, also on Soleid, follows with Nu-Disco detail before Florian Kruse and Julian Wassermann's Echoes on Blaufield Music restores the Indie Dance emphasis.
Damon Jee and Oxo's Azylum on Critical Monday keeps the mood focused before Near Dark's Heute Ist Ein Guter Tag Zu Sterben (Dub Mix) on Abfahrt Records introduces Trance tension. Llewellyn's Falling Apart on Riotvan then brings the selection back towards its darker Indie Dance core.
Hiroshi Watanabe's Infinity Sign on Optimo Trax closes the programme with a measured Tech House finish. The final shift gives the set a clean club resolution while retaining Anonymous Z's preference for dark, leftfield selections.
