Rumesh announced guest DJ Milea and the playlist for episode 80 of Petrichor on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Rumesh, whose full name is Rumesh Peiris, is a Sri Lankan DJ and the host of the Petrichor podcast series. His interest in Progressive Music led him to establish Petrichor, a radio podcast series that hosts international talent, while the preceding programme is available as last week's second hour.
Guest DJ Melia (first hour)
This weeks guest DJ (first hour) is Melia, Melia real name Lea Milea is a young female artist who officially introduced herself recently on the scene. Born in the Slovenian town Celje near border clode to the Croatian border.
Her powerful charisma, excellent intuitive in her selection of tracks and mixing awakens you when Milea gets on the decks. Her energy and connection with the audience is what makes her so special.
Lea directs all her energy to her sets which she never prepares before the show, and having played at most of the nightspots in her region she has left a good impression at every venue. Her energy has inspired many in the audience and promoters have been enthralled by her dedication and hard work.
Local radio stations in Croatia and Slovenia have hosted her talent and she has presented a show on Yammat FM, amongst others in the region. In the past few years she has performed at Slurp festival in Pula, Nox festival in Osijek and has performed with Eric Sneo, Ladida and warmed up for the Fatima Hajji dancers at the Beat Pont Festival.
Her selections throw energy to the audience with Melodic Techno the rhythmic skeleton of Techno, and Progressive House grooves. Her sets are not linear stories in the way you read a book, but a network of dislocated centres in a way that you would read hypertext, where each link offers an extension of the central story.
The programme opens with Hot Tuneik's Galapagos on Chrom Recordings, setting a Melodic House and Techno tone. Weekend Heroes follow with the Analog Jungs remix of Eat My Apple, extending the opening run with a more forceful club edge.
Alejandro Conde's Carry On on MNL brings the set into Progressive House territory. RONA's Kamilo Sanclemente and Mauro Aguirre remix of We Are follows before DJ Arturo's Hype on Asymmetric Recordings sustains the measured pace.
Alan Cerra's Roots, released through Variety Music, keeps the progressive thread in focus. Adam Ten and Mita Gami, featuring Diamond Thug, shift the selection towards Indie Dance with Face The Sky on SELADOR.
Dmitry Molosh and Michael A bring the closing stretch back to Progressive House through Twelve Days on Replug. Serhan Guney's Kowloon precedes Namatjira's Capricciosa, whose Manual Music release provides the final selection.
