pulsɘs introduced his Dark Techno show on Scientific Sound Asia in May 2020. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian and international electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
pulsɘs, real name Amedeo Marini, is an emerging artist born and raised in Rome, Italy, who was based in Groningen, Holland's underground scene at the time of publication. The Italian DJ and producer has a dark, high-energy, uncompromising techno style that has often led to closing-set appearances.
At that point, he was looking towards his first international bookings after the pandemic, having played for a few underground organizers and planned larger events in his adopted city. His selections draw on rave, Hard Techno, EBM, Dark Techno, Electro and Industrial Techno.
The show centres on darker music and, at the time, included discussion of how coronavirus affected Europe's clubbing scene. Marini's musical background also includes post-metal and sludge as a guitar player.
Aleja Sanchez and Dino Sabatini open with El Árbol De La Vida on Northallsen Records, establishing a deep, shadowed Deep Techno mood. Sub Space's BI MACHINE on Labrynth and Desroi's Gauze Covers Flaw and Bright Blood keep the raw, deep and hypnotic techno focus intact.
Joaquin Ruiz's Magnetism on Mitten brings in a more forceful Peak Time Techno edge before D.Dan's Take It Easy on Lobster Theremin returns to a stripped-back intensity. Stef Mendesidis's The Secret Agent's Blunder and EAS's Elected Pain, both on Clergy, extend that concentrated raw techno pressure.
Primal's Truth Without Pain on Hardsignal Recordings raises the pace again, while no.name's Cyberpunk on Insane Industry introduces an Industrial rupture. Kander's Insight on Clergy and Endlec's Heavy Hitter on Analogue bring the set back through austere techno and peak-time weight.
Aron SC's One Seventy Five on Urban Chaos Records turns towards Hard Techno, with Leo Laker's Introductory Summoning Techniques on Hardwork Records pushing the tempo further. These records give the middle of the programme a harder, more direct club focus without leaving its dark character behind.
Mickey Nox's Syd, The Liar (snitch mix) on Green Fetish Records restores a sharp peak-time charge before Violent's Whispers Of Sorrow on Vast Perception moves into firmer Techno territory. hel.IV's Vitriol on Sacred Court and SNTS's BEYOND HVMANS on SNTS Records hold that severity as the closing stretch takes shape.
Aneed's Destroy Only on Blvckplvgue keeps the late section tense, before Ayarcana's Ignite on South London Analogue Material returns to raw, hypnotic detail. Krampf closes with LSD XTC (Do We Really Need) on Live From Earth, ending the programme with its Hard Dance outlier and a blunt final escalation.
